Ipswich Express stopped posting the day the retired Damon Reed was named as Mark de Mori's opponent, and it was no coincidence.

yes the opposition needs to be within lucas' limit, I agree, but fighting guys who have lost 25 straight fights is utter pathetic imo. his promoter needs to do much better than that.

i'll cheer for him and like the guy, but I won't sugar coat ****.

hopefully he'll get better opposition after fighting toney.

he seems a humble guy and doesn't get carried away with the hype, so good luck for success to him.

Now that Browne is fighting Toney anyone who is bagging what he was done up untill now is simply doing so out of dislike for the guy or dislike for themselves.

He has been brought along perfectly IMO.

The difference in your example is that we are talking about the 'sport' of professional boxing.

What other sports exist where the second best doesn't always or even often get to compete against the best?

Pro boxing is like few other sports in the world where you don't have to be the second best or even realistically the 100th best to fight for a title.

This is what results in what some people who are uneducted in the 'business' of pro boxing see as poor match making.

Do you see a top 20 WBC ranked heavyweight fighting a BoxRec #443 ranked cruiserweight as anything other than poor matchmaking?

A simple yes or no would be fine, and spare us the 'Joe Bloggs is fighting a bad opponent too so that makes it okay' excuse FFS.

    Not poor match making.

What makes it anything better than poor matchmaking then? And spare us the excuses. What are the positives in this absolute stinker?

How many options do you think there are in a small German town and surrounding areas?

Positives are hopefully another KO win on his record and more international exposure, contacts and experience.

    Anyway, back to Browne.

I'm tipping a Toney UD sadly. Would like to think Lucas will win, I just can't see it happening. I hope I'm proved wrong.

Did you see him against Ledbedev? or his 'win' against Bobby Gunn where Bobby broke his hand on Toney's thick skull and retired on his stool. What Toney was and what he is now, are very different things. Toney's workrate these days is extremely poor and he is very easy to find. It's a smart take notice fight for Lucas. Toney is still a name, without the game:rasta

Top 20 WBC ranked heavyweight versus BoxRec #443 ranked cruiserweight is the definitive mismatch, and an appalling piece of matchmaking.

We have middleweights who could beat this absolutely medoicre cruiserweight de Mori is fighting. I have no doubt Sakio Bika would knock this nobody out.

I agree, I am sure Browne had to think about taking the fight with Toney for all of about 10 seconds. Personally I still think Toney wins 7 out of 10 times vs Browne even in is current shape.
