Many people are bitching about Golovkin's level of opposition. That he recently fought junior middleweights coming up in weight etc.

Macklin seems to be ready for Golovkin in June, is ranked #5 by The Ring.

Do you approve Matthew Macklin as a stern test for Gennady Golovkin?

Decent fight. Golovkin should knock Macklin out though.

    A proper match up.

He wont be getting rid of Macklin and hes a legit MW.

We'll see what GGG has when brought into deep waters.

would be great for the division if it happened, Macklin was giving Sergio problems before getting busted up late in the fight

Very good fight, Macklin is a legitimate top 5-10 MW. GGG should beat him if he is as good as he has looked so far, but it will be quite a large step up for him. There are lots of good match-ups available with Macklin involved

Macklin is a decent MW contender, so they will put a decent fight together. I think he is a step behind GGG, Sexy and Ganja Kid... he is one of the best non-titleholders mw.

The fight that I would put money for is GGG vs Lazy Chavez.

It's a good fight, if Golovkin takes Macklin out, like I expect he will, it shows he's the real deal and read for anyone at the weight

I like this fight a lot!

Macklin is a full sized middleweight, has a very decent KO ratio (60%), plenty of experience and tested by Martinez himself. He can potentially take GGG out, something that can not be said for his last couple of opponents. He has only been down three times in his career and two of those was in the fight against Sergio Martinez.

A fight between Golovkin and Macklin are good for both fighters. If Macklin loses he can retire gracefully or concentrate on the European scene. If he wins he is the toast of boxing for a full week and Golovkin is in the bucket with ****** Bieber and David Lemieux.

If Golovkin wins nobody will doubt him anymore. How he does with Macklin will be VERY interesting for a comparison vs Sergio Martinez. If he loses he will have to humbly withdraw to Big Bear and fight junior middleweights for two more years. Massive hypetrain crash.

Let's not get our hopes up. Matthew Macklin on twitter (from March 26):

"I'm happy to fight GGG infact I want to fight him! Just not in June. All I want is a level playing field. He fought in Jan n is fighting on Sat. Come June I've had one round (KO vs Alcine) in 15 months. That's not a level playing field."
