Was Joe Louis lucky to get his shot at the title so quick?

    I guess where man is involved we will always see the worst in man and Goverment is man, but it is inspiring that a Fighter Marciano and a tarnished entertainer in the eyes of the U.S.Frank Sinatra would help a great American like Louis from their hearts.

    Marciano was notoriously tight with money ,but he did some very nice things for guys like Walcott,Louis , Charles, and Pep.
    Sinatra of course had flaws ,but he too was capable of great generousity,and he undoubtedly respected Louis deeply, then again who didn't ,and who doesn't?

    He did indeed. He came back very strongly after losing to Schmelling. Max still deserved a shot before him,though.

    Louis did not actualy need to fight Schmeling in order to establish himself as a worthy title challenger.

    Braddock would have been eminently justified in giving him a title shot after he beat Max Baer, for example.

    So he was lucky to get it when he did, but not as quickly as he did.
