I have never seen a case like Roy Jones Jr. Was it mental?

I know the weight drain issues have been hammered to death, but if you think about it.

    Jones vs Tarver I

That version of Jones will clean out today's 175. Easily too.

Jones vs Tarver 2.... Enough time for Roy to readjust to the weight, Roy gets brutally knocked out.

    Jones vs Johnson
    Roy loses every round.

In a span of 3 fights.. Roy went from an elite 175 LB who could clean out today's division to losing every round against Johnson prior to getting viciously knocked out.

Was it just a mental thing after Tarver 2?

If you spin an oriental person around really fast, do they become DISORIENTED???

I think the weight loss at the age he was is what did it, he may have gotten away with it when he was younger but his body couldnt bounce back.

The weight primarily, but after the Tarver KO he lost confidence in himself to a large degree, never opening up on live opponents.

He lost his legs when he moved down from HW, and really it was all over from there.

There's a documentary called 'Heart of a Champion' which follows him in the build up to Tarver 2. It's in full on Youtube.

It was the roids IMO, just look how his ko% differ pre hall and post hall, and how after he got popped how he started laying on the ropes getting touched.

I do admit Tarver another roided fighter destroyed whatever was left from his aura

Tarver should be ashamed of himself for not beating Roy Jones in their first fight.

Jones was ****ed for coming back down to Light Heavy and should have went to Cruiser first. Think about this. Name a time in his entire career that you seen Jones tired in a fight. He was tired after a few rounds. I don't care who you are, you can't go around burning muscle to lose weight.

That was the first fight though. Second fight he just got caught , that was what ruined him.

People keep bringing that up over and over and its just wrong.
1 he never lost much weight to begin with he just did not drain down to fight at heavy.

2 explain why he won the first Tarver fight and then had TONS of time to readjust after.

    Its just fanboys making excuses.

Age is a better excuse than weight loss in this case.

After Hall, he destroyed Harding (Freshoff a win over Tarver) and Gonzalez and Woods, 2 of the best LHW of their era. And a couple of other LHW contenders.

Went up to HW and beat a title holding, top 5 HW in Ruiz.

    Came back down,beat Tarver.

After all that,at the age of 35, he got KO'd and never really recovered.

Its not exactly rocket science, and has nothing to do with alledged drug taking.

Destroys Harding,Woods, Gonzalez, goes to HW, picks up a belt againbst a top 5 HW, comes back down beats Tarver.

There was 4 ****ing years,7 fights and a jump to HW between the Hall fight and the Tarver loss.

He got old, messed around with weight too much got KO'd and never really recovered
