everyone on here goes on and on and on about prizefighter being dead, being boring etc , it is nt aimed for the boxing purist and with the limited prize money they have to put the show together i feel they provide entertainment friends of mine who arent hardcore boxing nuts love it they have a little bet a few beers and get entertained for the evening not everyone wants to watch andre ward jabbing and moving for 36 minutes or 300 re runs of old fights on box nation , if you dont like it dont watch it , it makes me laugh some posters on here go on nd on about it being crap and needing refreshing then they are posting away in the rbr come the night
I don't care if casual fans like it, I owe them ****s nothing, I care about what I want to watch and that isn't Prizefighter, I like proper boxing cards and with limited TV dates available I have a serious problem with them being filled with something I don't like.
Very fair shout. Matchroom only get 20 dates off Sky then ****ing waste about half a dozen of them on bloody Prizefighters which has been done to death and isn't fresh anymore. If Matchroom can't fill them with proper cards then give those dates to Maloney and Hatton instead, let him use them for David Price, Scott Quigg and Martin Murray amongst others to have 2 or 3 fights a year on Sky. No harm in that is there? Maybe even sell those dates to the highest bidding promoter to use if they want a bit of extra money?
yeah its a shame prizefighter gets in the way of more cards like bellew/ isaac (crap fight ) rocky fielding v a bum with no defence , gorge groves v another bum, darren barker v tba , etc etc etc prizefighter feels a niche for sky and more people watch that than most crap hearn or ***** cards , and without the casual fans you so tastfuly call ****s you would nt have any boxing as their is nt a big enough fan base amongst intellectual fans like you to warrant putting it on This content is protected
Yep, If Prizefighter was on a weeknight on separate tv allocation then I wouldn't have a problem with it, because of Saint Edwards determination to keep it going we are left with only 14 TV dates for proper cards. Thank you Eddie and thank you Prizefighter.
I'd like boxing to be built up like wrestling/UFC is with characters. Matchroom do this with the darts a bit- the players have nicknames and some have personas. The reason why fights like Benn/Eubank sold was because of the characters involved- Eubank was the cocky bad guy and Benn was the likeable warrior. Styles make fights but the characters involved sell it to the casuals. You could say that Tyson Fury is a "cool bad guy" at the moment or a tweener like Kevin Nash was in WCW. David Price is essentially the good guy like the British Bulldog. The casuals are interested in this fight because there is a good guy/bad guy dynamic. I was thinking of starting a thread on the subject of current British boxers and their wrestling counterparts but was concerned that I might get called an ingrate or similar. As for an alternative to Prizefighter I'd probably steal another idea from wrestling and have three boxer bouts where the boxers rotated and only boxed for two thirds of the time- the survivor or the man with the most points wins. Innovative and cheap to do- good for eliminators as well so long as the boxers are evenly matched.
Absolutely agree 100%. :good Boxing needs characters. People will tune in to see what they're up too. Fury is great because he's so unpredictable and thinks outside of the box. Boxing has fell to the wayside because bland fighters like the Klitschkos have been allowed to dominate it. Guys like Floyd Mayweather who were interesting and controversial have become stale because he hasn't changed in 10 years. Everyone 24/7 show he does it's the same sound-bites and the same antics. Adrien Broner, makes me **** myself when GBP talk about him being PPV worthy. He's a ****ing joke, would rather watch a bee take pollen from a flower. Just because a fighter is flashy and in your face doesn't make him interesting. He's so obviously fake. The guys I want to watch and listen too are the guys who are real and genuine like Fury. Boxers need to be more outspoken and more interesting. That doesn't mean beating up their wives and getting arrested, it means by being trying to be more individually unique so fans realise you stand out from everyone else.
bit more back story behind each fighter on the night of the fight, not just on ringside (which most casual boxing fans dont watch). UFC (last time i watched) have a little interview with each fighter just before they show the fight which creates a sense of rivalry. The most important think is more competitive fights. In most UFC fights, the fighters are more evenly matched compared with Boxing.
Warriors Tournament for the Warrior Belt! a New division! 15 round fights, and every fighter must fight once per month. It will be the same concept of the Super Sixx, but for each division. Or lets go back to just fighting until one man does not beat the count or gives up!
yes and even those short little tidbits can add alot I remember Jeremy Stephens debut in his little interview he was saying "I turn 21 next week, so this is a birthday present to myself, go out there, win, and go out to celebrate my 21st birthday" cut to veteran Din Thomas saying "Yeah it's too bad they gotta bring in this young kid to get beat up by me right before his birthday" "welcome to the UFC, sorry about your luck kid" Stephens went out like a wild man but was ultimately out-experienced by Thomas, but I felt bad for him after he lost, all it took was a ten second clip of both fighters talking to get me a little more invested
Bare knuckle boxing live on sky 1 this Saturday 8pm. With the all new shrinking ring that gets smaller after each round....Also the coaches corner, 1 free pass for the corner to step into the ring and provide assistance to this fighter whenever he decides, but remember, you only get 1 pass lasting 30seconds.
