Large 175lbers have historically bypassed CW to take a shot at becoming undersized heavyweights.

 

Maybe since you seem to know it all, you can remind me who was all fighting at 154 in 2006 - 2007. Did you just say DLH was the #1 fighter there w/o even trying to see whom it might be? Or are you more impressed with Goldy's star power, and there fore just automatically call him the best? atsch

Floyd although i dont blame him..would have gotten MAD props if he would have faced VF(RIP) at that time and won.....instead of ODLH

 

Since I'm a little over 50 I can say I've watched both of their careers since they turned pro. Strange as it may sound the Ruiz win is one of the deciding factors which favour Jones. Ruiz isn't pretty to watch and I don't particularly like him, but he was a legit top 10 heavyweight. For Jones to go up in weight, and beat him very convincingly is a huge accomplishment. Floyd meanwhile beat De la Hoya, and Mosely, but no way were they in their primes when it happened, and I honestly think both of them would have a great chance of beating him in their primes. Mosely at 135 and Oscar at 147. So it's not just who beat who, it's also at what stages of their careers were they at when it happened. I think Jones is a relatlvely harder puncher, but Floyd has a better defense. Both are incredibly quick both with their hands and feet, and certainly Jones was critized for ducking fighters when he was in his prime. But when you start asking who, you usually don't get much of a response. But to me both are a tier below Duran and SRL. because these guys, especially Duran fought everyone, and no way could I imagine Floyd ever getting in the ring with the likes of Hearns, Hagler or Barkley and SRL's wins over Hearns and Hagler beat anything either Jones or Floyd have accomplished, but the closest thing to that, in terms of Floyd and Roy,is Jone's win over Ruiz.

im pretty sure Corey was numero uno then though because i remember thinking he wasn't the best of that division by far but was ranked number 1...

154 at the time had A LOT of talent and great fights....remember the late great Vernon was still around then

Oscar is number 3, Roman was 2, and Spinks 1, Forrest is 4.
