I have never seen a case like Roy Jones Jr. Was it mental?

Roy never looked the same after that war with Glen Johnson

    Both/

Calzaghe wasnt far off 40 himself and was apperently over 14 stone on fight week having to lose weight at short notice.
All fighters rely on physical skills.
I have brought up the Hall fight before and said to people show me where Jones looks so different there to when he fought Calzaghe and the differece was he opponent

Comparting the Jones of Calzaghe to the Jones of the Hall era is like comparing chalk and cheese.

The Jones of the Calzaghe fight was like the Jones of the Woods fight, moving through Molasses

oh come on. Short notice ? That was his own fault.
We are talking about a guy who did almost everything wrong in the ring technically but dominated guys with ease.
Calzaghe showed his age as well but he did not have those tree fights with Tarver. He did not get knocked out cold twice in the span of 4 months.
Calzaghe was relatively fresh but Jones was old and worn down.
If you truly believe that Jones was the same fighter that faced Hall then there is no hope for you.

Seriously, what are you talking about?

He was a solid 200 for Ruiz.

How did he get from a solid 200, down to 175 for the weigh in?

He lost 25 pounds overall. He then rehydrated up to around 185 ish. He lost a good few pounds of actual muscle, that he'd never had to do before.

He was running on fumes for the last 3 rounds of the Tarver fight. Did you not see?

What do you mean I can't explain?

Tarver couldn't capitalise in the first fight, and he caught him with a perfect shot in the second one with his eyes closed. It was a great shot. It was a good win. But it wasn't a great one, because of where Roy was in his career. It wasn't a fresh 25 year old, 94 Toney version of Roy, it was a 2004, 35 year old version that had been to heavy and back. You could even say it was a very good win, but again you can't call it great. It was always going to happen at some point.

He didn't cherry pick Ruiz, and Murad did try and secure other fights at heavy. You can have the links if you wish. His Ruiz weight was taken off in a hurry to get back for Tarver.

Where has it been clearly shown that the weight loss was bull****?

What happened to a 29 year old, fit and healthy Chad Dawson when he fought Ward?

Ha! Now you've gone too far.

    The old Hall question again.

I'll show you a clip of the Anthony Hanshaw fight, where he looks great.

Joe was 36, and Roy had many more miles on the clock.

You guys call it trolling when you cant answer sensibly as a way out
Below is the Jones/Hall fight and the Calzaghe/Jones fight. In both Jones lays on ropes and moves the same. The real differene is the opponent, You watch them and say different

If you think Jones circa 2000 was anything like Jones circa Calzaghem, then there is no sensible with you

He is trolling, but it's all good fun, and it gives my brain a workout. He knows a lot about boxing. He's too intelligent to really believe the rubbish he posts. This forum wouldn't be half as good without him.

His Tyson thread was brilliant that he did a few days ago.

Call me old fashioned, but I don't get the point of trolling, or posting disingenuous opinions or 'facts' about boxers. I just don't get it. Some 95% of the crap posted anymore is just bull****... :-(
