I've looked into pledging some money, but I seem to be missing something here.

If they get enough pledges in time then our credit cards will be debited and they start to develop the game. They will continue to develop the game until it's completed, no matter how long it takes. Hmm, ok.

They make no mention on how they plan to market and sell the game. Also, there doesn't actually seem to be any return on your investment, apart from some meaningless fluff. It seems you put some money in and hope that they eventually release a game that you have to go out and buy, despite actually paying for it the first place.

If they presented this idea on Dragon's Den they would be laughed at.

That's how kickstarter works, Clay. You're a backer, not an investor. Most people looking for funding usually share these details over time. All you need to worry about is getting the game.

This looks fantastic. I will be backing it, I hope others do as well, rather than chat about it online, never give any money and then moan when it doesn't come to fruition.

If you back £20, then you will get a copy of the game on release, if the investment target is met. If it is not met, you don't pay a single penny. For me, it is worth it to pay the money and wait a year and a half for the game, rather than risk it never coming out.

Like the idea but without licensing the appeal has been dropped a lot in all honesty

Great idea but last I checked they only had £120 funding.

    How could they afford that?

    So make a pledge.

On the licensing thing - the description says fans will be able to build and share custom databases so someone will come up with a database with real fighters. It just won't be official so the developers don't run into any bother.

Below is the reply i got from a poster on general who i believe is one of the creators:

"We are planning to initially have a team of about 50-100 researchers and have a deal with boxrec.com

Initially atleast 10,000 real fighters over the 18 divisions. But ultimately we would like about 20,000 fighters in the database. This game can be as good as the community want it to be. And yes the download after your purchase will have all the fighters, coaches and promoters. We are putting up a website and forum as we speak "
