but the truth is he never performed in his last 2 world title fights he was fading in the last few rounds. And you can judge him on his last two fights,I don't beleive for a minute he's punching hard, when he fought the 18 year old boy each time Scott put him down the lad kept getting up,not a good sign in my eyes and in the second fight he looked slow and tired and that's just not my opinion I'm afraid,it's fact and until that changes that's the way it is
Just don't face Harrison please Billy. I know it would generate massive interest in Scotland and make Ricky a tonne of money but Jesus Christ, some things are more important than that. Like legacy as champion and respect amongst peers. Ricky would truly be the laughing stock if that fight happened. A washed up, ****-head former champion facing a current world class fighter for a world title, would be like a bad film.
Thank God for that. If Harrison wants to keep going with his career and make a bit more money then good luck to him. However, his time as a champion and a top contender have past. The horse bolted a long time ago when it comes to Scott coming back and trying for a world title again. Beating Scott Harrison, as much as it would make Ricky money, would add absolutely nothing to his legacy.
Billy just going through my old boxing stuff, found this, you got Willie Limond to sign them about 5 years ago for me! This content is protected
Billy you know as well as me during Scott's last world title fight he was in the sauna trying to lose the last couple of pounds when he was supposed to be at the weigh in, he nearly lost the title on the scales. I agree that should have been the time to move up to sfw and why he didn't only he knows. The come back fight against the 18 year old was after a 7 year lay off and was a decent performance considering. The last fight he got ****ed about time after time with opponents calling off and he found it hard to get up for it and was probably embarrassed about having to fight a 6 rounder. This is the fight he has been waiting on and you will see a different guy turn up.
what will be said is he's beat a good domestic fighter, still needs to beat someone with world class credentials. But getting past Liam may be hard enough,i dont think scott has brought the strength he had at FW up to LW. i wonder who Scott's sparring to prepare for Liam? Your the man DUNKY inform us!
Nearly yes and I think if he got away from london I could turn him onto a world champ hehas the tools
I think he was on the fringes of world class, his lifestyle and inactivity didn't help him and that mirrors a fighter called? Scott Harrison.
Bill C84 there is a big difference between Scott and Mitchell - ability and a strong Chin. Scott had 10-11 world title fights, only lost 1, can't remember him ever being on canvas in my life. Not saying he didn't in an early fight, but I am not aware of that. Where as Mitchell spend have his fights against ricky and kastidas on his arse. I have to disagree with anyone saying Mitchell is near world class, I have seen no evidance of it, is a nice slick domestic level fighter, good to watch, but has a terribly weak chin, and when you cannot defend that is a problem at anything near world class
On Kevin Mitchell, if you were his trainer Billy N would you advice him to fight at lightweight, or do you agree he can't handle elite lightweights punching power. I thought he would have been best staying at super featherweight. I am not anti Mitchell, as I say enjoy watching him, normally in exciting fights, just think people overrate his ability. Put it this way an old rusty scott harrison would still knock him out no problems, as Mitchell is too brave for his chin, stays and slugs it out and can't at a high level. That's why he's exciting, same problem khan has, does not always box to his strengths.
I disagree with you Moog, Kevin Mitchell would beat Scott handily now he's a excellent fighter, the problem with folk saying and this isn't ment to be cheeky Kevin should go down to SFW is his body no longer can, he was ripped and looked great on the scales against Ricky were will the other 5 lbs come off? he is a LW and that is that but he certainly has the tools to work with.
