George did regain the top spot by holding the most title belts and winning the true lineal title from Moorer. Moorer might not have been the most talented heavyweight of the era but he was THE LINEAL CHAMP.

Can Pacqiuao do it? I don't think he can get the top spot again but he can win a belt again.

Hatton, Cotto, Margo, Marquez, Hoya, Bradley were all coming off wins :rofl

    Rehydration clauses :rofl

Careful avoidance of fighters:rofl - from a fraud fan. You could only name one, lets list all the fighters fraud ducked. He didnt even clean out his own division, so how was he the top guy. You dont stay #1 by fighting a bunch of cans then retiring when your own division is smokin hot.

that lineal stuff is overrated when you see how beating Moorer makes that significant. George lost to Evander and Tommy Morrison, and was given this 3rd title fight against Moorer who was a southpaw lightheavyweight moving up in weight who didn't even have a strong chin at 175. Michael didn't move at all, he always stayed right in front of his opponents. I just don't think George beating him was that impressive. It is significant, but not tremendously shocking.

Hatton coming off KO loss versus Floyd and was getting beat up by tomato cans leading up to the manny fight. There was no chance he was beating any version of anyone remotely good that night.

Cotto was given a gift decision versus Clottey as he was beaten down most of the night. This is all following the Margs scandal.

Margs was coming off a thrashing versus Shane. He then proceeded to take time off (for his suspension) and he returned to decision a random journeyman.

JMM was looking slow and sluggish in his recent fights. Their third fight was a massively failed cherry-pick.

... getting KTFO and KD by a 40 year old slow, plodding JMM in his second fight at 147 ever.

DLH lost to Floyd and then had his orbital bone broken by Steve Forbes. In case you didn't know, Steve Forbes had about as much power as Paulie Malignaggi. Also, DLH weighed less than manny (the bantamweight) on fight night.

I acknowledged Bradley was coming off a win. It was a good win for manny, but he didn't dominate the way many people expected him to.

Those are his fights above 135. As you can tell, there's nothing overly impressive about any single accomplishment.

Lineal title is the only title. What do you mean it's overrated? beating the champion in the ring to become the champion seems fair to me.
Foreman lost to Holyfield but had a great fight. Morrison fought his career best fight against Foreman and even turned his back on Foreman at one point.
Michael Moorer was no joke. He never lost a fight when Foreman KO'd him. He also has beaten Holyfield and was a former light heavyweight champion. Who says Moorer's chin was bad?
Moorer lost to Tua and Foreman, some of the best hitters ever. And Moorer was stopped by Holyfield. OK so he had an average chin but not a bad chin. He was certainly never KO'd by the Ross Purrity's of the world. Moorer was 35-0 when he fought Foreman.
George was coming off a loss and was nearly 46. It was a huge deal for an old bald man to have the title. No one thought this guy could do it.

Wow there are so many "experts" on here ruling Pacquiao out 100% - if Roberto Duran can come back from a KO like that at the age of 38 (not 34) and beat and knock down Iran Barkley then as long as Pacquiao is physically ok, then it all comes down to how psychologically strong he is.

It will be tough to come back, but would I be shocked if he went on to come back strong in his next 2 fights? No, of course not - George is basing his opinion on that, and it's a valid opinion - it is not factual that Pacquiao can't come back

Of course Pacquiao can reclaim the top spot.

Of course in the short term, that would only realistically happen through Mayweather and Marquez both losing and for him to at least defeat one of those two or Bradley.

I think his time spent fighting at an ATG level is well over with (and has been for a couple years, clearly, just in my opinion). I see him still beating almost every fighter out there at 147.
