If Rigondeaux was a natural 168 or 147 would he beat Ward or Mayweather?

Just a question for those who think Rigondeaux will beat Donaire- who like Mayweather and Ward is a top pound for pound fighter.

If he walked round at 300 then and slimmed down to to 168, or walked round at 234 and slimmed down to 147. How would he do against the other Ward and Mayweather respectively?

 

not with 11 fights. Somehow 11 fights in the lower weights is more exceptable than 11 in the higher weights, just because guys wear out so much quicker and so much earlier at those weights.

 

Not really, the action is much more fast paced at the lower weights and I imagine being struck with a hard body shot takes more out because your just a bag of bones

 

If you selected the best traits from Rigo and Donaire, that boxer would still lose handily to Ward or Mayweather. It is a different breed of fighter.

 

If I asked the same question of Donaire I'd fancy him to beat Mayweather (at this stage of Floyd's career) but Ward I'd see as a 50-50.

I actually think Rigondeaux is a fairly similar breed of fighter to Ward and Mayweather (most likely driveled from extensive amateur backgrounds).

 

He might beat those guys. But someone with a punch with crack that chin

 

yes, well that is the theory, the fast pace wears guys out faster and they cannot keep up that level for as long. Heavyweights can fight until they are 40, which is why Hopkins fighting at 175 for so long is extraordinary.

 

Max Kellerman asked these questions on The Road to Donaire-Rigondeaux. If Donaire was a natural fighter at those weight classes HE WOULD BEAT BOTH OF THEM. Imagine Donaire's left hook at those weight divisions, it's already great now and just imagine how much destruction there will be. Donaire would KTFO both Ward and Mayweather.

 

Quite possible, but punch resistance also increase with size but the question is would Rigo beat Floyd and Ward?

 

I think he'd handle Ward without too much problem but lose to Mayweather. Ward is very good but he's getting hella overrated right now, he's no ATG type, just well above average. A Calzaghe level fighter. Rigo has too much talent for him p4p.

 

Mayweather and Ward are much better than Donaire. Donaire is nowhere near as complete

 

Mayweather as skilled and a better strategist.

Ward better strategist but not more skilled.

 

I feel both Ward and Floyd are better than Donaire P4P.
And Donaire beats Rigo so....
