Lets say Lucas wins the 140 pound Tourney. KO's Lamont, Decisions Danny, KO's Khan. At that point, he should crack top 10 p4p, & have built a nice followung for himself. Could you see him being a potential FLOYD opponent in 2014??? I could. It's right up FLOYDS alley, fighting a guy coming off an impressive win/wins. Altough Lucas is not a bog name, it would still do 1Mill Buys IMO. Legit opponent or not??? I think so. Size would not be an issue IMO, I would argue Mathysse & Floyd are similar size, Luke might even be heavier on fight night. Mathysse, while defimitely a huge underdog, has the bone crunching power to hurt anybody.
Thats A Big LETS SAY, the guy couldn't even decisively beat Judah and Alexander, Give me a break. He ain't getting past Peterson
That's what this tournament is for - to build an opponent for Floyd. All of these 140 fighters are looking to graduate from the LWW division to land a shot at him. So if Lucas did all of that -- beat PEDerson, Garcia and Khan -- then he'd be the only viable opponent left for Floyd to pick one from that division. So yeah, of course Floyd would fight him. It'd be easy money, too. I'm a big fan of Lucas but he doesn't make a compelling opponent for him. None of the 140 crop do.
If in doing so he looked really good then I'd watch it. Lucas is a very solid fighter and I like him but thus far he's shown nothing that suggests he would actually land on Mayweather. It takes a dynamic blend of offense and defense to penetrate that guard. If he shows that while winning the tourney then it might excite. But it would help if he beat someone beyond just Garcia, Khan, and Peterson. Someone like Bradley.
Yes Slick, I'm aware of your thoughts on the fight and I'm inclined to agree. Anything can happen though.
Well stated. Bradley is the ideal link between world class (Garcia, Khan, Peterson, etc) and the elite/upper elite (Pac, JMM and Floyd). Beat a Bradley (not a ****ing Berto ) and beat him good, then you'd have shown something to suggest you can mount an interesting challenge to Floyd.
