    Round 8

Horvath is following as Maxwell bows down below the waist and backhands up a loose jab. Straight combos by Horvath trying to corral Maxwell into the ropes, unsuccessfully. Maxwell takes a few of Horvath's jab and cross bursts careening off the dreads but most are swallowed between his fists, keeping his chin to his chest. Maxwell leads Horvath along and tries laying traps rising up with hooks but with his intentions betrayed and Horvath pulling the reins in time.

    10-9 Horvath

    80-72 Horvath

Even though my tally was a shutout it wasn't like he took it running away. More like he barely compensated for his low work rate with superior accuracy to Maxwell's, with the pattern repeating several times over.

    I didn't see anything special.

His ceiling is probably several floors below the EBU title.

Future "opponent", when the zero is gone.

    Round 1

Matthews is putting in hard left hooks up top and pressing in. Markham shuffles to the side and blocks, then puts in a jab to catch Matthews idling. Lead hook up top and a right to the body by Markham. Matthews circles in, uppercut. Markham turns him and repeats the left hook upstairs, right hand downstairs combo. Straight right by Matthews, then a looping one. Chopping right hand by Markham seeing a momentary gap in Matthews' defense. Matthews jumps in and slaps a hook against Markham's wrist. Short counter jabs by Markham. Matthews loops in a right, blocked. Matthews pecks with the jab. Markham waits for his opening and flurries back.

    10-9 Markham

    Round 2

Markham is covering up as Matthews drops several looping rights on him, sweeping around the side from a distance with his spine kinked. Markham is biding his time and then poking his jab into Matthews face or backing him up with the left hook. Nice two-piece leaning in by Markham. Body shot by Markham. Matthews takes an extra step backwards and loads up another looping right - caught on the arm. Markham moves in with the high guard and lets Matthews bounce a few uppercuts off it. Markham snipes with head and body shots as Matthews keeps firing on the back foot. Matthews windmills and manages to catch the top/back of Markham's shaved dome with his right hand.

    10-9 Markham

    20-18 Markham

    Round 3

Markham is shielding up and catching the long jabs and lacrosse pass rights of Matthews. Nice short left hook counter on the inside by Markham. Body and head combos by Markham wherever Matthews leaves himself vulnerable taking his foot off the gas. Matthews keeps clapping in and gets through with a few jabs, reddening the lower eyelid of Markham. Nice sharp jab by Markham squatting down and to the side to make Matthews miss a flurry.

    10-9 Markham

    30-27 Markham

    Round 4

Markham is still waiting on Matthews to lead, and targeting the body ever more with left hooks instead of focusing on the jab to the face. Matthews is settling down a bit more, and picking his spots. Body work exchanged by both. Wide thumps by Matthews and straight thrusts or well-turned left hooks by Markham. Matthews is walked to the ropes and comes soaring out of a low crouch with a windmilled right to give Markham pause. Nice straight right lead by Markham. Matthews takes a jab to the navel and slides his feet to the side before he can land the cross. They clinch and wrestle to free their arms, Matthews working his right.

    10-9 Markham but close

    40-36 Markham
