I guess we can agree 90 % of the users here say Walcott ranks higher than Wlad Klitschko on the all time great Heavyweight list.
Here is something I thought about recently: Wladimir Klitschko has 20 wins with only 2 Losses in World Title fights.
Jersey Joe Walcott has 2 wins and 6 Losses in his World Title fights.
    Your thoughts?

boxing records aren't the only factor to consider when talking about the greatness of a boxer, it's also the quality of opposition.

I'm not sure many people would rank Walcott higher.

Wlad ranks higher for me and a majority of posters would rank him higher now.

I've not seen anyone arguing jersey above wlad. Maybe velvet but most normal people probably have wlad miles in front.

Wlad has moved above Walcott now, but this is a classic case of how the statistics can be misleading.

For example Walcott’s title fights were all against Louis, Charles and Marciano, not much weakness there.

Also Walcott’s resume like that of many greats, rests very heavily on non title fights.

Except head to head, where Wlad himself has little trouble with two of these. Cruiserweights have just not fared well against Wlad.

Lets say that you are right (I am skeptical).

How many of Wlad's title challengers would you favour over Walcott?

Less than 6 I would wager.

Walcott faced better foes and beat better foes than Wlad.. that much is not debatable. We must remember people like Walcott and Charles were fighting ABOVE their NATURAL weight, and when they were HW, one might say they were past their best. To do as well as they did.. considering alll of that.. I could see how some would think Walcott did more with less. He certainly faced better fighters that's for sure.

A few of Wladimir Klitschko's world title fights were for nothing more than a bit of leather and metal.

Walcott faced the better opposition in a historical sense. Wladimir Klitschko is the greater heavyweight, I don't think you'll find many that'd dispute that.

Boxing fans around the world tally millions and millions.
The little few votes here for Wlad being greater means very little.
A popularity thread in general had interest in Haye/Charr vs Wlad/Pin-who 90-10 in Haye's favour.

Wlad is no risk, jab and hold against undersized opponents. He wont ever go down as an ATG.

Walcot was greater in skill and ability and that trumps dominating weak opposition , the only claim Wlad has.

For decades and decades HWs made boxing the biggest sport on the planet. PPV sales were breaking records on both sides of the atlantic. Granny's knew who the HW champion of the world was.

What fights did Wlad ever do PPV? Haye brought PPV and Wlad insisted he have a cut. His fights have been relegated to channels nobody has. No fighter who killed a division will ever be known as an ATG.
