So Browne wasn't going to fight Towers in an eliminator for a shot at the Commonwealth title? I must have got that wrong then...

it was just the usual talk from promoters hyping up a contest, that's all.

 

Wrong. There are eliminators for the Commonwealth belts, they are just not put on as often as world title eliminators.

For the record Browne's fight was on after the Rex Tso fight in Hong Kong. His fight was billed as the main event. When Towers pulled out Tso's fight was promoted to "co-main event".

 

Totally wrong.

 

Managed a brief chat with Alex Leapai in Macau on Sat (he was working Big George Foreman's security), says he's open to a Browne fight after their next fights. Cool fella.

 

Their name doesn't appear on de Mori's BoxRec entry. Perhaps ties have been severed there as well? They were only feeding him a succession of hacks getting their last paydays anyway.

Buster is frequently wrong about things John H. Rarely admits it. Googling Towers-Browne in Commonwealth title eliminator is a major chore apparently.

It was billed as an eliminator at the time - quick google shows numerous references showing Buster is wrong.

 

I know it was said to be. I've seen it. i'm asking is it fact?

the reason being was that it was said price wouldn't be fighting any of these guys.
