Hardly the same. Guitar is known to give you strong hands (harder punching/parrying) and rhythm.

I'm a jazz major in college right now with guitar and piano, boxing makes playing guitar harder, i find my fingers cramping up when i'm doing finger excercises on the guitar, my fingers aren't as flexible as they were before i started. I slowed down with the boxing once i noticed this. Carpal tunnel is common with guitar players and boxing is only gonna speed that process up.

yep i am guitar player too and have same problems like you. Positive thing is that everyone in my band are just 4fun musicians so i dont care. But if i would take my guitar playing seriously, boxing wouldnt be smartest thing to do.

Im a classical guitarist. Think about ti like this. In music as in boxing
there is technique, rhythm, dynamics, beauty etc. The dicipline, passion,
hunger and talent necessary to play pieces of music and make a statement
is in the same vein of a talented fighter. Mastering your craft, being physically
and mentally fit. Classical guitar requires more strength than other guitars so,
maybe do some forearm curls every other day it will help your classical chops a bit
with endurance and strength. I recently saw Manuel Barrueco play. Hes a virtuoso
and was great and flawless but somewhat reserved. If you see Eliot Fisk play he's
taking risks, and making some mistakes, but he puts on a show. Think about a master
boxer who dominates with the jab ala Wlad or someone who constantly goes for
drama going head to head like Bowe. Personally I love dramatic performances in music
and sports, who doesnt. Bit anyway, no classical guitar wont help you but being clasically
trained is the way to go, in music and boxing!

Yeah man, my fingers and wrist gets sore now real fast. The benefit i can think of is timing, because you learn many time signatures it may seem silly but sometimes when i spar i go out of music time signatures and just go maybe 1 meaure 4/4 - 6/8 the weird ones are more fun, also fun when hitting the bag. gets your time signatures down pat too!
