Why would Golden Boy put Canelo in with Trout unless they were very, very confident?

This fight looks very dangerous on paper for Canelo, and as I've said before I actually favor Trout. But Grantland writer Jay Caspian Kang makes a good point:

I too am beginning to believe Trout will do little to prevent Canelo beating on him. Even though he fought Cotto well, there were still times when he looked uncomfortable with his pressure. If Canelo brings the same heat -- a big if, seeing as though his stamina isn't the best -- then I reckon Canelo will put him away. Not to discredit Trout, but it's very possible that he only looked as good as he did against Cotto because he was facing someone who didn't belong in that division.

 

Trout ain't sht, Canelo will beat him easily.

 

Who has Canelo beat to become this monster did I miss something, this is the first legit 154 pound fighter who is also a southpaw with better boxing skills and stamina he will face

its a gamble.....a win here and they rech that next level of stardom....and now they hold even better negotiation cards in the future...including with Floyd.

 

Senior citizen mosley don't count,atleast cotto came off a great fight with mayweather and floyd even said it was his toughest fight.If you remember in the 30 days in may documentary floyd said in his own words cotto almost made him retire,but last time i checked canelo was getting bullied by mosley physically and canelo is horrible fighting backwards.Stop the bs,trout is gonna tko canelo in the 11th from a accumulation of punches and the finish will be trout unloading a combination on canelo while he's on the ropes and his corner will stop it.

 

Golden Boy have matched their fighters hard in the past, resulting in several losses. I don't think this match-up is the result of them seeing some flaw in Trout and deciding to exploit it.

As far as I remember, Golden Boy didn't want this fight for Alvarez.

Canelo had to ask for it.
