When headbutting someone, what part of your head do you use to make sure you don't take much damage but your opponent does. Do you use your forehead? Are some people's heads harder than others?

How was holyfield for example able to headbutt Hasim Rahman so hard that he gave him that huge bump but Holyfield himself went unscathed?

    Just below your hairline

Most predominate headbutters have no hair however

If you headbutt and land below or above this area it will hurt.

    See the lumpy area?

Top of the head and aim at flesh around the eyes, preferably eyelids.

Throw a hook and throw it wide but aim farther than the side of the head or body. At least closer to the back.

Then use the momentum moving forward then ram your head (preferably anything higher than the forehead) and smash it right through the nose or around the eyes. Brows are the perfect targets.

Ohhh, just below the hairline. That area is hard (just checked right now) and hitting it on a soft area like above the eye or square on the forehead would cause a lot of damage. Thanks alot man.

Looking at fighters like Timothy Bradley and Evander Holyfield, I'm beginning to see that boxing is not only about trying to not get hit and hitting with closed fists, but headbutting is another aspect of boxing.

Knowing how to headbutt, and not getting caught by the referee is a science in and of itself.

this, but another aspect is disguising it, holyfield was the best i have ever seen at disguising a headbutt or making it look accidental , he headbutts in many of his fights, as you mentioned rahman, he can also be seen headbutting riddick bowe in their first fight, when bowe stuns him at the beginning, and in the 10th round when he starts to comeback

LOL, I'm picturing that right now and it looks like a great strategy. I can definitely see a referee ruling that as unintentional.

Yes and no. You don't want to headbutt them with the middle of your forhead/hairline (while facing them straight on) because you have two veins that run up the middle and you can easily cut yourself there and will bleed like a stuck pig.

8:10 Golota throws a good one here

You want to have your head turned a bit so you're using the part on the outside of your eyebrow (but higher up towards the hairline)

I was watching Canelo vs SSM yesterday and noticed the ref saying "watch your head Shane" at least 10x during the fight. Never noticed this when the fight originally took place.

Hopkins vs Dawson 2, Hopkins put his butts together in combination. He catches Dawson with the front of head then rotates his body forward and doubles up by hitting the same area of Dawsons face with the different part of his own head.

ask the TREE. had he connected with that deadly headbutt, Floid could have been KTFO. legally.
