Mayweather Taking a Less Aggressive Approach For Guerrero?

I don't follow, Mayweather during his amateur career hardly ever foot on the back foot, when he was exclusively trained by his dad he never fought on the back foot either.

His dad who fought Leonard also never faught on his back foot either.

The point Im making is Mayweather rarely does it but obviously can, and the times he has done it have been with Roger more than his dad?

The likelihood is you will see Floyd use his jab ALOT more, and he will be more static and more aggressive....

Yes static, he will move less.....for some reason he doesn't move as often as he did in the past - in his own words " he doesn't need to!" or in the words of Roach " his legs have gone " atsch

So I think for the most part he will stand pretty much infront of Guerrero use some lateral movement but not alot.....and come forward and walk Guerrero down.

You can beat he will try to stop him, he has talked about "giving fans entertainment" and trying to stop people more than ever recently.

 

Total bull****, even Mayweather's biggest critics wouldn't accuse him of that, especially in recent years wheres he's mixed offense and defense very well. But maybe the last fight you saw of him was against Baldomir in 06 or something?:thumbsup

 

Clearly his daddy hasn't been able to drill anything in or out of Floyd in recent years. Floyd will fight however he chooses.....imho

But lets assume he convinces Floyd to purely out box Guerrero, Floyd will do that just like he out boxed Cotto in round 1; mostly in the middle of the ring and on the front foot.

To make Floyd go backwards you need a very big puncher or someone who is physically very strong......

I don't see Guerrero as being either of those things

 

That's not quite true Hatton was very strong, that was his style to be physical and maul his opponents....also he put everything into his shots, he was a good puncher but ofcourse not huge.

Also add that Hatton was pretty fleet footed going forward....Floyd wanted to go backwards so he could work and not get smothered and he had lots of nice counter punching opportunities.

 

Well the thing is this Guerrero is actually a big guy.....his walking around weight must be in the 160's.

He is pretty strong too, but the difference is Floyd has clearly become a stronger fighter and also filled out a little since his Hatton days just go and look at his body back then.

He managed to go forward vs Shane, Ortiz and Cotto so the likelihood is Guerrero will not bring anything to the table that any of those 3 have not already showed Floyd is terms of physical strength or punching power.

Not to mention is Berto has horrible horrible defense whereas Floyd has ATG defense....

Guerrero is the one who is going to have to be VERY VERY aggressive to stand any chance and that will be his down fall. Floyd will be sharp, pick him apart and press forward when the time is right and he will really hurt Guerrero.

 

Berto has had question mark on his chin since Ortiz, plus can you really count that Muay Thai grab back of head n punch a legal legit knock down. From round 2 his eye was closed from a thumb to the eye and he was still fighting hard throw 12.

Berto showed incredible hart but is a flawed fighter. It's hard for me to give Guerrero much credit for that fight because of his blatant dirty tactics the whole fight. I'm sure he thinks he can do the same to Floyd but will be in for a surprise if he doesn't have a different game plan.
