    At his peak probably one of the best,Al,against one of our very best.Anyone mentioned Alexis Arguello,against another,much maligned Scottish boxer,who was a world champ,and a fighting champion at that.

    Was thinking about Dave Charnley in reference to Carlos.But remember he also boxed Maurice Cullen,a terrific stylist who went the distance with him.No mean feat.

    Bill Richmond was the opponent in what was basically the first mega fight of the bare knuckle era against Tom Cribb. When Richmond retired from fighting he trained another freed American slave called Tom Molineaux who also lost against Tom Cribb.

    It wasn't until the 90's that George Forman had a world title fight in America. He also had 1 fight in England in his second career so even though he was far from his best and hadn't become quite the force he would become again he was still treated as a legend, albeit more like Socrates was in that game he had for Garforth Town than a guy who was going to become a Champion again and go the distance with Holyfield.
