    Sad news. RIP.

'The Truth' was actually a pretty 'big' name in his heyday. Anyone remember those Carl 'The Tooth' Williams skits?

Should have been heavyweight champ, beat Larry Holmes and got totally robbed. Cancer at 54. A shame, he seemed like good guy. He was very talented, one break, and he would be talked about a lot more on here.

So sad. What type of cancer did he have?

Williams beat James Quick Tillis back when that was a significant win.

Many, including myself, thought he got robbed against Holmes. It was the best performance of his career. I scored it 9-6 for Williams. However, as was often the case late in a longtime champion’s career, Holmes was apparently given any round that was even remotely close, particularly early in the fight. The judges had it unanimously for Holmes. Jerry Roth had a semi-reasonable score of 143-142 (or 8-7) for Holmes. However, judges Paul Gibbs and Al Rothenberg both had it 146-139 (or 11-4) for Holmes. Those scores were absolutely ridiculous.

Williams also dismantled Bert Cooper back when Bert only had one loss coming in.

He also won a 12-round decision over Berbick before getting stopped in 1 by Tyson. He lost a split decision to Witherspoon.

Probably his most entertaining fight was the 8-round battle with Tommy the Duke Morrison. Williams lost, but fought valiantly in a back and forth war.
