This was originally uploaded in the general forum. It shows Sugar's fights in his prime but there is some footage I havent seen, just wondered if anybody knew if it is knew or its just not been uploaded on youtube yet. The footage is from 15minutes in to about 25 minutes. Sugar looks great as usual but he gets knocked down in round 3. At the end of the fight, it looks like the other guy has his hand raised. So either its when Sugar was on the downhill or its new footage from a WW prime Robinson that hasn't been seen yet. He seems like he's in his prime, the footage is uploaded in chronological order and it appears before his fight with Abrams which was around Ray's peak. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vTyJ8kinc4 Any ideas?
It's better off in here than the General Forum. If it's not Floyd or Pacquiao they don't wanna know about it.
Jesus, he's nice to watch. If I could make one wish pertaining to boxing, it would be him being born 40 years later. Can you imagine him fighting in the 148-160 range during the days of Benitez, Duran, Leonard, Hearns, McCallum, Curry, Hagler, Kalambay, Toney and the rest of them?
Watched it all the way through but couldn't be arsed to try and figure out what the earlier footage was, just enjoyed it. If it is Ray at welter he looked Hearns-esque in stature. Not sure it was chronological wasn't there Golden Gloves footage later on in the two hours? Who uploaded it @sweetboxing ? If so, someone tweet him. Anyway, I thought everyone knew there was a bit of welter(ish) Ray around, in the Bill Cayton 'Pound for Pound' documentary there's some, and that is the perfect Ray 'highlight' right there, loads of brilliant footage including the best angle of the Graziano K.O.
not enough footage to tell, but from what was visable one has to wonder if the Mick Leahy & Terry Downes fights were suspect?
Something like that, very good quality the Golden Gloves footage. Some of the footage has some terrible hand cranked camera speed to it
Boilermaker you brought up a fight between Ray Robinson and Bobby Dykes in Coney Island, fight #2 in the 1950s which I DID SEE and which is NOT listed in the record books...See this fight I DID, but it is not listed til this day...Until your post I have forgotten about this long ago fight which I saw and recall so vividly....My personal" Bermuda Triangle ".
