His fight with PEDerson is being held at a catchweight of 141, meaning the IBF belt will not be on the line. So yet again he's being denied the chance to get his hands on a world title. Robbed against Judah and Alexander, prevented from having a shot at Garcia by having a cheater put in his path, and now he's not being allowed to win a title from that cheater.

This sport hasn't been fair on Lucas. Not one bit.

That shitty, but to be fair there's a lot more than just Peterson juicing.

    Agreed.

He's without doubt one of the must watch fighters in boxing today but unfortunately isn't a ticket seller so get's shafted.

I expect him to be on the receiving end of some harsh judging against PEDerson. The fella' needs a knockout to win, and nothing less.

  6. Bull**** as usual, this Guy just can't catch a break. what was the rason given for the catchweight ?

    ^^^
    That's what Steve Kim thinks.

  9. Why not ? It'd be a unification so there would actually be a big demand for it. I seriously doubt Lucas would not want to fight for a world title after all the **** he's been put through to get one.

Why the **** would they do a 1lbs catchweight?

He should sign with Top Rank and fight Rios & Alvarado.

The WBC in all of their tremendous wisdom of making terribly idiotic decisions no longer allow unification fights so if he's going the WBC route well then the IBF belt isn't much use to him if he specifically wants that title.

In regards to the catch weight it doesn't really make much sense considering the fact that they are both 140 fighters.

Even if Lucas won the IBF title from Lamont well then it depends on if the WBC allow Garcia to keep both or will force him to choose between the WBA and WBC however if Lucas won the IBF belt and got the fight with Garcia he could then choose what belts he would keep IF he beat Garcia therefore making it worth his while to win the IBF while unifying with whoever (I'm assuming Garcia) has the most belts depending on how he and the other fighters progress through this tournament that Schaefer is talking about.

    Unusual indeed. :think

Why on Earth would he do that when he potentially has Peterson-Garcia-Khan lined up, in a row!

He's been included in this tournament, though. The winners of Garcia-Judah and Matthysse-PEDerson are pretty much promised to fight each other regardless. Mando or not, IBF belt or not, Matthysse would still get his shot at Garcia if he beats PEDerson.

So making it 141 to avoid putting the belt on the line, makes no sense. Especially seeing as though if WBC have such a problem with unifications (despite allowing Garcia to hold both WBC and WBA), Matthyse can just drop the IBF.

This is what I think happens, Matthysse beats Peterson, Garcia beats Judah
They make Garcia vs Khan, say Garcia will fight Matthysse after the Khan fight
    Garcia fights Floyd

It's possible. But mate, Khan won't be fighting until the end of 2013. You think Garcia, after April 27th, would sit out for that long? I reckon PEDerson wins and Garcia faces him. Or if Matthysse does win, I think Garcia will be forced into facing him.
