    What bull****.

They really don't want Matthysse to play a part in anything, do they? It's clear as day that Golden Boy have a plan, and Lucas isn't at the finishing line of it.

This 140 tournament is designed purely to manufacture an opponent for Mayweather. Garcia, PEDerson and Khan are all easily sellable if Floyd was to pick them. Matthysse, on the other hand, isn't. GBP would prefer it if he wasn't the last man standing. Compared to him, Garcia, Khan and PEDerson are better investments. Matthysse's the black sheep of their 140 family.

True, I just hope Matthysse stops Peterson he will get robbed, after all this is done once Matthysse gets in the ring with Garcia what a sight it will be, there's no way Danny doesnt get stopped and then the same thing Khan, Peterson is the toughest tough so its good if he gets it out the way first

What a run that would be! PEDerson, Garcia and Khan. Something he's very capable of. Let's hope he does it.

This fight doesn't need a BS belt on the line. No money to the WBA for sanctioning so it's all good.

I reckon Matthysse would sell tickets in Argentina. There's no reason he can't be as popular as Martinez, he has a different personality to sell too.

Who cares about title, has long as the Argie gets a good pay day who cares, bet my bottom dollar he is more worried about the amount of money, than some belt.

I think he'll waste Peterson anyway.

Lamont wouldn't be the stronger man like he was against Khan, and Matthysse is way better than a shot Kendall Holt.

Can see this being over inside six rounds personally.

Garcia won't fight Floyd. Both are Haymon fighters.

As fans, it may be very easy to say that but when guys work their whole careers to get a title attached to their names, a real, regarded major world title is not a "Who cares?" issue for most fighters. Belts mean recognition. Recognition means money and opportunity. Belts do matter, whether we like it or not.

Actually this might not be as bad as it sounds. Here me out.

Matthysse is silver WBC Champion, he is mandotary to garcia. Lamon peterson is IBF champion. If matthysse beats peterson he loses his ranking at the WBC and his mandotary status so garcia doesn't have to fight him at all. This way once matthysse ends peterson garcia has to fight him as he remains WBC Silver champion and retains his mandotary status.

The fighters care about the title. It may not matter to some of us sitting behind a keyboard, but to them -- people who work their whole lives to get their hands on one -- it does.

You see, that's the excuse being used. But it's not a good one, in my opinion. If the interim title is that valuable, then what's the point of him even fighting PEDerson? He may as well wait for the outcome of Garcia-Judah and enforce his mandatory status on Garcia right away, instead of taking on a dangerous opponent in this tournament. A tournament which, by the look of things, will alter its rules depending on who wins. PEDerson's allowed to keep his IBF belt and attempt to unify against Garcia if he wins, but if Matthysse does the same (try to capture the IBF) he'll be prevented by the WBC from having a shot Garcia?

*Note: I know the tournament is unofficial and it has no jurisdiction on title fights, but still, it was originally set up with the intention of leading to a unified champ of the division. Kinda' unfair if Matthysse is being omitted from this.

There was an excellent discussion going on yesterday about this in the General, but for some reason that thread was shut down.

I'm not sure. I didn't know what belt was supposed to be on the line here till I read this thread and now I'm writing this I've forgotten again.
