He was never a true champ so shut your ****ing mouth. The only reason he got a shot at that belt was due to politics and the damn WBC headmaster is his godfather Even his fight against Zbik was a controversial win.
He lost every minute of the Martinez fight up until the knockdowns he wasn't even competitive. Martinez would school him again. Chavez was handed that WBC belt also it wasn't really his.
I don't care who you are, but someone with no boxing skill doesn't win as many pro fights as he has. He deserves props. Get in a boxing gym and try to win at least 5 pro fights and tell me how you do
End of topic. And just to re-iterate his previous point, he was a world champion - beating an unbeaten at the time Zbik (although admittedly, I haven't seen that fight nor know much of Zbik).
He's been in some entertaining fights with good opposition, I would not call him a joke at all. I think too many people compare him to his father and expect too much from him.
with his size advantage(i think he is almost a cruiser) he should have KO ratio at least 80%, and in my opinion his chin is average, cause he, as cruiser had too much respect for martinez power(who himself isnt the biggest middleweighter). So, cruiser who was fighting like a scared turtle against middleweighter? lol, he is a joke. Still wanna see him fighting, especially GGG.
10-2 in the amateurs  and i was not talking about his skill. Jr never was a real champion and he will probably never be one.
Yea, he was the champion of the world  Won a belt because Martinez was forced to vacate it. Zbik was Martinez´ mandatory but HBO refused that fight. HBO then pressed Martinez in there with Dzinziruk because Shaw had made a deal with HBO that got Dzinziruk on HBO for two fights. HBO did not give a **** about Martinez and Dzinziruk at the time. So then suddenly HBO approves Chavez - Zbik ? what a load of horse ****. Chavez Jr should never have gotten his hands on that belt. :deal
Martinez will never step inside of a boxing ring with Chavez Jr ever again.Junior never really trained for the fight, never intended to win via a decision, and was merely trying to replicate the ending of his father's famous fight with Meldrick Taylor. It was a very risky move but he's a showman at the end of the day, and guys like that just can't help themselves. We all saw what happened the moment El Dinero De Vaca did decide to put in some serious effort, and he damn near knocked Martinez out.Just think what a fully trained/dedicated version of junior would have done to him.
Nobody here considers him elite, not even his biggest fan Freddy-Wak. We do know one thing, he's beating decent enough fighters without even training properly. Whether a fighter enjoys it or not, greatness is achieved in the gym through hard training, Jr. has been bypassing that and will pay dearly everytime he step up to real quality.
Co-sign.....he almost beat the so called "best idleweight in the world" while being high and not being propely prepared...I honestly think that JR was only 30% of himslef in that fight, in a reatch Martinez gets KTFO whithin 3 rounds tops:bbb
JCC Jr might not be the most skilled guy out there but I enjoy his fights. He's tough as hell and will make for some interesting fights in the future.
