Peterson - Matthyese at 141lb catchweight

It will mean the bout will be a non-title fight: Peterson will keep his IBF strap win or lose and Matthyese keep his 'interem' belt win or lose. Seems like Golden Boy are keeping their options open for future match-ups vs the likes of Garcia. Seems like exploiting a cheap loop-hole to me.

Thoughts?

 

I hate these type of catchweights more than the other way.

If Peterson loses his credibility as champ is seriously diminished.

 

So.

This fight will not affect either's 140 pound rankings.

And will not do enough to get either ranked at 147.

Lose-lose for the fighters and the fans.

Even if Matthysse wins, he will still have no titles won in his career.

 

Let's be real here. It's about time 141 got some new blood. Too long 140, 144, 145 and 147 have been vampirically leeching off of the 141 weight's potential megafights. It's been dry long so, gentlemen, but now the hard rain's a gonna fall.

 

It's a disgrace. It's a good way of GBP ensuring their world titles are spread out amongst their 140 stable. It's better to have two LWW world champions as opposed to one. Gives them more control over the division.

It is still scheduled for 12 rounds as far as i can see but you make a damn good point

 

Really intesting to see how these two guys will fight..

Will Peterson try to box? - If we see him backing up and working off the jab then he knows Lucas is dangerous.
Will Lucas box or go for the kill straight away?

 

This is a pisstake. A complete joked. They're completely taking the fans for a ride on this one. Set up a tournament with the top fighters of a division but then ensure you protect your business interests by removing your fighters belts and rankings from the fights by raising the weight limit to 1lb above the weight limit.

Why do people care? It is a good fight that people want to see it is not a weight thing. Stop caring about these stupid belts

 

I wish it was not a title fight, catch weight cool.

 

In short it's a ****ing meaningless fight for both fighters
