Nothing to make a big about. It's still essentially a jrWW fight.

belts help fighters get higher paydays and more opportunities. Trout is a still a nobody without his WBA belt, this garbage takes away chances from other up and coming dudes

Trout is a somebody because he beat Miguel Cotto, belt or not.

Floyd,Marquez, Manny, Sergio, etc could all throw their belts in the thrash and they'd be just as big.

I mean Matthyse doesnt even really hold an actual belt yet hes still a big name.

Khan doesnt hold any belt yet hes still the biggets draw in the division.

People have stopped caring about belts, which is GREAT.

It might end up culling a lot of these pointless belts, and create olne belt again.

The only belt anyone seems to care about anymore is the ring belt

Trout only got the Cotto fight because he had the WBA strap, without that he is high risk with zero reward.
Same as Danny Garcia, Khan wanted that WBC belt
Fighters still go after belts because it gives them more recognition to the casual and more bargaining power in fight negotiations. Belts help dudes like Garcia and Trout break into the spotlight

To you the belts might be stupid. But to the fighters -- who work their whole lives to become world champions -- they're not. Being a world title holder opens up so many doors of opportunities and higher paydays. And Matthysse is once again being denied the chance for this. If you're a fan of the sport, you should care. Because Matthysse isn't a Pacquiao or a Mayweather, where he's bigger than the belts and doesn't need them. He's still trying to make his way and gain recognition. He can't afford to keep having title shots taken away from him.

 In what way? Neither guy is struggling with weight. The only person it benefits is PEDerson, as he's saved from having to put his title on the line.

    It's not about the belt.

It's the fact that it's not a junior welterweight fight, which is where these men campaign.

For me, personally, it is about the belt. The weight makes no difference to me. 141 or 140, it'll still produce the same fight. The only irritating thing is that it's being used to not put the title on the line. That's a disgrace.

While it technically falls under WW now, it'a still a JrWW fight. Lets not go crazy with this.

That said, it doesn't make any sense at all to agree to fight at 141, unless there were ulterior motives for the belts (as some have alluded to).
