I agree he seems, and probably is, a bit disinterested. This generates a lot of hate (a lot of it desreved) about what's been literally handed to him despite his lack of interest.
Go put up a strong showing against and then knock down Martinez, then you can talk. He may not be 'elite', but he's certainly not deserving of half the **** he gets.
The laziness is just being played up to create a character for julio. You dont get to where he is in the sport by being lazy.
Dude the Martinez panoncha spanking aside, he has come along ways from where he started. Look at his resume??? Yes he ducked Martinez for awhile but I think it was more his handlers and team then him. Every boxer I have ever known even B Level guys are warriors mentally and always want to get in the ring. Its just the make up mentally that separates the real boxers from the fanboys. I was a hater of his until he stepped in there with Andy Lee......Chavez Jr. is a work in progress. But I respect that he has worked very very hard to come out of his father's shadow.
He has average skills technically but has a very good chin, decent power and good body punches. He is relatively young and has won belts and beaten decent opponents and nearly beat a top 5 p4p fighter. He is not elite but he is no joke.
Okay, he is a joke. Now ask yourself, what have you done with your life? Have you made at least half a million or is that the amount you will make in your entire life? How many accomplishments have you earned?
The one thing about Chavez is his physical strength. That is amazing. He just does not look like a 160 pound fighter at 160 pounds. He looks like a cruiserweight with middleweights. And he isn't like Tommy, who had a huge upper body but thin legs at middleweight. He is big in the legs and torso.
Not a fan of him I dislike him, but as raw as he is his size, chin, and heart should never be overlooked. Doesn't have one punch ko power, but he's heavy handed and for Roy Jones to say he's the strongest fighter he's worked in the gym should say something. He looks more of a wrestling build than a boxer.
