Can someone break down this fight for me as I missed it.

 

Briefly, Crolla fought with different tactics, fought on back foot. Won early rounds. Middle rounds were clearly Matthews, but Crolla clearly paced himself and came on strong in later rounds. I had Crolla winning by 1, but I am biased in favour of Crolla.

 

I didn't feel Crolla was very effective on the back foot and felt Derry was in charge until Crolla changed it up and went after him, he hurt Serry in the last few rounds and with a bit more belief would've got the stoppage imo.

 

Crolla showed signs of improvement last night I think sometimes people blame Gallagher but you can't blame the trainer if the fighter doesn't listen. Last night crolla actually thought about what he was doing and apart from a lapse in the middle rounds was better than he was in the last fight. Matthews seems to rely on hurting crolla and I think unless he lands that big shot and gets the stoppage crolla will always be the better man over 12. He seems to have broken the mould and started to move a bit rather than just wanting to be up close all the time, maybe he took something from watching quit fight Monroe and the way he utilised the ring.

 

Just saw some comments by Anthony Crolla, said rumours of a fall out with Joe are complete and utter lies, he thanked him & said the tactics were completely down to Joe.

Not sure why someone would make it up but given up trying to guess people's agendas.

 

I genuinely had corolla 1 round up but it was super close it all down to interpretations.
And I thought Tony lost by 1 round but the same applies to the above.

 

Cant believe that one.Surely he's not in the gym twenty four seven.Seriously,the Matthews fight was a good un,the draw about right.Give them both a rest now.Let Crolla work towards the European title possibly.

 

Didn't think he covered himself in glory with his back and forths with McGuigan of late. He's always come across as having too large a chip on his shoulder though

 

What was it about?

 

Was about Quigg-Frampton. Gallagher had got a bit condescending saying McGuigan should not be jumping up and down trying to get Frampton a fight with Quigg because Frampton didn't deserve it. Which sounds a bit silly right now as Frampton has certainly moved into the driving seat for any negotiations for that fight if it were to happen.

I think that beef probably goes back a bit further. Remember John Murray lost his title on the scales as he didnt make weight and McGuigan (working for ITV at the time) slaughtered Murray for his unprofessional preparations.

 

Quigg's best win is over an ageing Munroe and Frampton has beaten Molitor and Martinez convincingly by stoppage in his last two outings. Quigg is a good fighter but inactivity is killing him, Framtpon has already stolen a march on him.
