hoops on the floor are making you feel like drunk (i am not english, i dont know how to write that), and shadow boxing after = boxing after hard punch.

balls catching is for reflex and explosiveness.

these are some traditional boxing exercises, nothing weird.

I just haven't seen any of the elite fighters doing this stuff - maybe I just haven't come across any material?

I understand the logic behind it, but he gets up and shadow boxes then moves on to the next drill. Now to do this in sparring would be the most realistic way to prepare for fighting with your balance thrown off. As right now he rolls around, gets up and fights air.

Cotto was doing the same thing with Diaz.
We saw the results against margarito 2 and Floyd.

Interesting - you got any footage?

Also if Margarito didn't have that bad eye - who knows how that fight would have ended. And Floyd ain't stopping anybody at 154 (with 10oz gloves)

Would be interesting to see if Bradley did any of this stuff before Provodnikov as I can't think of a better recent example of someone fighting basically legless and surviving.

I like your point. Although these exercises done in this way are perfectly fine during the general preparation period, they could be changed to simulate fight moments even more. Then again, you have sparring for that..

It's not new at all, Cubans have been doing it forever and winning medals. How is circuit training going to do anything, he's not training for a boxercise class.

They showed it at the 24/7 footage before the fights, it must be on YouTube .
Diaz bases his game in proper reflexes and conditioning. Margo could have shown with 3 eyes that night and still be outboxed.

:good Thank you! I love how guys on a forum act like they know better than professionals, whose life work is training fighters.

That's all good, but what about world titles? As I said in my post, I can't think of seeing elite fighters doing this stuff. I couldn't imagine Hagler rolling around and then jumping up to catch balls thrown above his head.

Have you never done boxing circuit training before? **** is nothing like boxercise.

You know what every fighter does behind closed doors do you? As others have mentioned the Cubans aren't the only ones who do this.

Yes I've done circuit training before, it's for general fitness, not for a guy trying to peak for a world title fight. Boxing circuit training is exactly what boxercise classes are, a lot of random **** to get some local muscular fitness after a long break or to help a girl shed some body fat. Circuit training isn't for athletes unless it's early in the training calendar.

I never said I did know what every boxer does behind closed doors, and I've also stated that I may not have seen some footage out there of elite boxers doing this. Care to share any with me?

The boxing circuit training I have done are nothing like a girls boxercise class which you keep referring to. Our circuits usually end in the ring or at least with pad work too. Unless you're going to say you're either infact a female? Or train with females? :yep

My original point was that I don't see how much these techniques adds to a fighters training anymore than other traditional methods. Now to see him do 2 mins of sparring, then roll around, jump and finish the round - then we are on to something.

Why? He already does sparring and pad work. He obviously is doing it to fine tune his reflexes and motor skills, it's not a conditioning drill per se. I have a background in skill acquisition and it's well established that you learn better if you do a variety of novel exercises in a random order. The top Ukrainians do things like this in their training all the time as well. It's not about conditioning, it's about enhancing motor skills and agility without too much metabolic stress/fatigue (along with the punching back when disorientated idea). Ever wonder why Rigo (or Cuban boxers in general) have such incredible balance? Because of exercises like this, enhancing proprioceptive and reactive ability. It's good to see some boxers doing intelligent things for a change, every other sport includes activities like this.

P.S. What you do is a boxercise class :good

Well maybe that has something to do with that it was over 30 years ago?
