Duran beat his last top 10 guy the same year as Whitaker did. When Duran beat his first contender, Whitaker was 7.

Duran is big compared to Whitaker, which is why he could fight at such a high weight. Great that you could find this. They were inducted the same year? Suliaman got a ring? Interesting. What category was that? This was a worthy class. I love Gatti, but this year he should not have made it in. Hamed should have.

Look at Whitaker's fist compared to Duran's and Lopez's.

I really can't get my head around this process, Barry McGuigan goes straight in, much to even his embarrasment & Hamed gets passed over.

There's a B/W photo out there of Duran & Pea on the stage either side of the lectern & the look they both give each other is lethal.

I agree, it is amazing how Hamed was passed on. I love Gatti and he was exciting but Hamed was legit great champion. I forget how many title defenses he had but something like 15. I saw a clip somewhere a few years back where they are asking Hamed in his prime what would happen if he fought Barry McGuigan when Barry was prime, and he says "I would knock him spark out". They showed Barry in the studio listening to Hamed.
