He called the ibf. He has connects in the boxing world and gets many interviews. He's more c credible than random people in this thread assuming it's Peterson's fault
It blows... But the important part is the 2 guys in the ring. (Ensures Golden Boy don't lose anything in the 140 monopoly)
I don't understand how people defending this GBP BS are defending it. If Lucas didn't want to fight him for his belt then he should have just passed on the fight, but he doesn't want to lose his aura of being avoided. So he is now in a worthless fight with Lamont that has no championship and division implications because he wants to play it safe and force a fight with Garcia via the mando route. It is a ****ing joke. Fight Peterson get the IBF and then when you get a super fight or title unification with Danny you will have more to bring to the table. This **** makes no sense, he runs from a title shot so he can have a title shot? WTF.
Really hope this isn't over 10 rounds. Matthysse potentially in for another bad result if the bout is fairly close.
I think one reason this might have transpired which doesn't locate blame on either fighter is that GBP doesn't want to unify too many more of the belts, as that could easily result in whoever holds more than one being stripped due to the bodies' absurd policies today. This in turn could result in Top Rank guys being in a position to fight for those belts and Top Rank in turn using them to legitimize their far weaker crop of fighters around the division. Having one guy hold too many belts then is seen as a threat to a promotional company's ability to control those belts.
That is BS and on top of it it is a sanctioning body problem, not a promotional problem. GBP is acting disgracefully putting on a farce of a match where neither fighter has anything on the line.
