Yeah but it has nothing to do with them.

    Why would they step in?

We agree for I think the first time ever Craney.

The BBBofC should do everything in their power to black ball this event like they wrongly did with Haye vs Chisora. That was a genuine fight even if it was between two controversial and mis-behaved figures. Both fellas were perfectly able to box at the end of the day.

This though is just a circus between two old men who both need money and are willing to disgrace if not severely hurt themselves to get it. Events like this are what truly are a black eye for boxing. Would MMA ever sanction a fight like this? No way. When a fighter's too old and really shouldn't be competing anymore then they rightly don't let him (in the UFC anyway). Boxing should follow this example and save itself some dignity,

As the boxing board of control of Britian, it should be their duty to step in if they see it as dangerous or insensitive. Steve Collins is from Dublin, for any board to allow this fight to happen is ridiculous. BBBofC SHOULD step in if they have sneaked of elsewhere to get the license.

But we don't know for sure if BBBofC themselves have licensed Steve.....we will find out in due time. It's a disgrace either way you look at it.

So your saying that the Japanese board of control should equally step in?

    Northern Ireland and Republic. :good

Steve is from Dublin and fought all over Britain in his career.

BBBofC should step in if they have gone and got it elsewhere. It would be actually unbelievable if they have given him one themselves.

While we are at it. Yes they should.

    Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan......North Korea.

Well maybe not the latter.

He fought the majority of his fights in Britain so the BBBofC were the ones who licenced him when he was still fighting. If he wants British officials going with him to look after his team and stuff to wherever this fight is happening then he needs a licence off them.

FW went mad when Chisora went to Germany to fight Klitschko. There was supposed to be BBBofC officials there on the night helping with the supervising and stuff but Frank said they ****ed off and were nowhere to be found. One of the main reasons that caused the big fallout.

If the fight is happening outside Britain then yes there's admittedly little the BBBofC can do about it. However, if Collins or the promoters come to them for anything they should outright refuse as a matter of principle.

He won't have been licensed by the BBB of C. 100%, they wouldn't even let Botha over here to fight Fury so they are not going to give a license to Collins!

It has nowt to do with them.

There is zero argument to be made comparing Steve Collins vs. Roy Jones Jr to Dereck Chisora vs. David Haye.

    No argument whatsoever.

2 active and young fighters who wanted to settle the score found a way of getting the fight on. The Steve Collins situation is someone who has been out for 16 years, fighting a shot Roy Jones Jr, but a still active Roy Jones Jr.....its madness.

    Is it just me?

    No it's not just you!

it's a bit of a criminal shame really. If, IF it's just Collins and a couple of businessmen trying to exploit and make some money and seeing that the board get it's cut, then yes it's an insult and CHEAT to boxing & young boxers vying for rights & titles and can't get an in, and Collins should be ashamed of himself.

but If, IF he really thinks I can do this too (fight successfully at his age), then he's got to give it a go, if that's truly what he wants, with sights set higher and take on BHop and secure a better legacy than his peers Benn, Eubank and JC, ok then.

but IF it's a Freddie Flintoff 'One Off', well they wonder why this sport is no longer valid!!!

The sport is turning into a laughing stock. Outside and inside the ring.

I remember an interview Steve Collins did with Danny Kelly a couple of years ago. He said then that he knew boxing was over for him when he sparred a younger boxer and took a heavy shot. He said he stopped sparring immediately as he knew he could not handle the physical demands of boxing anymore.
