The 2nd one in the series (not the 2nd rematch)

So you are mentioning the infamous fight in new orleans , so that's not leonard giving Duran a rematch is it. It's Duran granting leonard a rematch as Duran won their first contest

Usually the guy who stop the fighter in the first one, gets him quicker and easier the second time around... It was no fluke that Hagler stopped Hearns. As much as I ove Herans he didn`t do it the first time and he wouldn`t do it the second time either ...

When they caught up with Hagler six months after the SRL fight, he wasn't interested in a rematch. He wanted to reclaim all of his titles if he were to come back, none of which Leonard had. He was stripped of two of them for even signing that perceived mismatch in which he was going to beat that ****** Leonard down.

Hagler has some of the most whiny ***** fans in the history of the sport.

I am not so sure, and the fact that Hagler changed his style so dramatically showed how he knew if Hearns had a slower paced fight Tommy might land his jab and his right hand. I think Hagler fighting that way shows exactly how much he respected Hearns. One thing I notice that Hearns did hit Marvin easily and Hagler face was swelling mid round in round one. Now that was an extraordinary round, but I think had the fight gone into round 5 or 6, Hearns would have swelled up Hagler big time. Back in the 1980s I didn't think Hearns could win a rematch, but after many years I think he could. Hagler could not have fought that same intense brawling fight as he did the first time.

Never heard of Ray ducking Hagler in terms of a rematch after they fought, and I lived in that era. My recollection is that Hagler got his huge payday and rode off into the sunset into permanent retirement, never wanting to box again.

Thank you, Mr. Pollack. It's revisionist history.

I love hagler but this is pretty much my recollection of events.

I seem to remember Hagler saying at 1 stage, not long after the fight, that he felt robbed and it put him off fighting again

It was either this or retire, and Lennox felt like he was running out of that elite juice, so he chose to retire.

I think he earned the right to go out whenever he wanted. Most anybody with a brain knows that the Klitschko's were the heirs apparent, and one of them would have knocked an aging Lewis off eventually(almost did).

Lennox had the right to get out of their before he suffered that indignity. He proved he was on the true ATG's in his division, that's enough.
