People mistake his stupidity for cockiness.

Can't believe he said that. He really is stupid at times.

I still think people hate him for unwarranted reasons, but after that show even my younger brother was praying that he gets sparked. I probably just can’t see it, he must give out this ‘cocky’ vibe that really rubs people up the wrong way.

Found it funny they said 'he was winning that fight for two and a half rounds' that means nothing!

Khan is just a tad naive, doesn't help with all those people round him, saying he could be as great a trainer as the legends and all that.

I really don't get all the abuse Amir gets on here.

Also comes across well I think, surely that cockiness has to be in a fighter - an air of arrogance to succeed? He's not over the top with it a la someone like Froch.

Personally think he's a really down to earth guy.

It's always been this way. His haters post about him way more than his supporters, but the haters then accuse his supporters of always talking about Khan. You'll also notice that racism is also usually brought up by his haters, usually in a sarcastic manner "oh but I must hate him because I'm racist, right?" No. No one mentioned race except you. When the thread then inevitably turns into a discussion about racism, these same clowns who brought it up don't like it and start crying about it. It's the way it's always been.

Anyway, Khan can be a bit of an idiot at times. Like the time he had a go at Glenn McRory after all the praise McRory gave him. Khan spat his dummy out and showed how immature he is. That for me confirmed he's an immature, insecure twat. Even so, the hate he gets is strange. See, I don't understand why when it comes to Khan people want humble. Is Froch humble? Is Haye humble? Is Fury humble? Is Bellew Humble? Are they ****. They get a free pass but Khan should be a nice, polite, humble kid. He's not allowed to trash talk. When he does it it's wrong. The most he says is "I'm gonna knock him out". The other boxers I've mentioned have been a lot more colorful with their pre-fight talk, but like I've always said Khan is held to a different standard and doesn't get a pass. With Khan only humble will do. Can you imagine this forum if Khan had made such comments as "I'm gonna put him in intensive care", "it's gonna be as one sided as a gang ****", "I'm gonna smash him to bits". We know what the reaction would be.

His intelligence is also attacked, but I just think he's not the most articulate guy. Very few boxers are. At least he doesn't come across as reserved or socially ******ed like so many others do.

    Yup.

His biggest crime, probably, is that he's unaware of how he comes across. And how, if he's not careful, a simple innocent answer can be taken out of context and things can spiral out of control. A perfect example is the Freddie Roach issue. People think he blames him for the Garcia loss, despite him never uttering such a thing. He's the perfect prey for a reporter who wants to get contentious quotes out of him:

Amir, what was the reason for leaving Roach?..."I just felt I needed a change. I make a lot of mistakes and it really hit me when I lost. I just want someone who has the time to work on them mistakes with me"

So how is Roach's health? His illness must be difficult for him, right?..."Yeah we all know about Freddie's illness. As he's getting older it gets harder for him to move around and give instructions. But he still does a great job with everyone."

Cut out the last sentence on the last quote, and you have all you need to create a story with the headline:

'Khan blames trainer's illness for loss'

*Note, the above is just a made-up example, but it actually was what happened when Yahoo wrote an article -- with carefully selected quotes -- claiming Khan was taking digs at Roach's illness

:deal the double standards are hilarious. You have one of the biggest ****s on this forum in Jack defending bellew's actions last week saying oh that's just the way he is. He's being himself, should not get criticised for it  Bellew is just a **** with a big mouth with average boxing ability. Yet we should accept his ****ish behaviour and criticise khan everytime he says something silly.

Didn't Khan spout some bull**** about Roach not telling or teaching him how to clinch and survive when he's hurt and that's why he lost the Garcia fight. He has so many bull**** excuses after he loses a fight and he's always blaming somebody else. Its nothing to do with race or religion why people dislike him.Its his attitude, simple as that!

I'm not a hater believe me I would love to see Khan do well but he needs to grow the **** up and be humble in defeat.

I agree but Bellew is a nobody in fairness.

Khans on the world scene so there's always gonna be haters or people disagreeing with how he acts whether he's a **** or not.

After losing to Wlad David Haye blamed his poor performance on his broken toe. Ricky claimed he was winning the second round against Pac 'by a country mile', and later intimated that he thought Manny was doping. Carl never fails to mention the disruption to his schedule caused by the ash cloud, and spouted of about how he'd been robbed, and how he had retired Kessler.

You can go back even further to Henry Cooper promoting the myth that Ali was given several minutes to recover between rounds - or the hundreds of fighters who have claimed trouble making weight as the reason for defeat.

Fighters have been blaming everything and everyone for their shortcomings long before Khan was around. Humility isn't a quality often exhibited by world level athletes.

Haye is a jackass,if it wasn't his toe it would have been something else, with all that **** talking he did there was no way he was gonna admit defeat like a man. There are plenty of honest fighters in the sport who take responsibility for their losses. Now this is just an example Manny Pacqauio for instance got absolutely mugged by the judges against Tim Bradley and there wasn't a peep out of him,he was humble and admitted defeat. Its a personality trait either your a sore loser or your not and Amir Khan and all those other fighters you named are sore ****ing losers.

    Simple.

Manny's situation is completely different. He was coming of a highly dubious 'win' himself. In the past he had insisted that the judges decisions should be respected. He could hardly have a whine when he'd benefitted from at least two similarly poor decisions. Furthermore he knew Bob would look after him.

That's a pretty simplistic view. You train like a mad man, put your body through all sorts of physical hardships. You withdraw from your friends and family. On the night you lose, maybe in humiliating fashion, in front of a large audience. I think it's natural to want to make excuses.

    Agree to disagree

I think the best way to avoid further humiliation is to admit defeat,it's a respectful way to lose and will always gain a fighter more respect amongst peers and fans alike. The Manny situation ill admit is tricky but I honestly don't think it's part of Manny Pacqauios make up to complain about a decision. The JMM fights were close but the Tim Bradley fight was completely one sided so there's no comparing the two.Imagine if it was Khan or Haye in Mannys shoes we'd still be hearing them crying about it.

You dont need a phsychology degree to figure out if someone is a sore loser or not,I respect the sacrifice and I realize must be hard to admit defeat but the better men always take it on the chin and move on.
