....came out of retirement, fought and beat 4 cans, then retired again having surpassed the great Rocky Marciano's longstanding unbeaten record?
His last four fights for me wouldnt hold any weight. Ward, froch and hopkins would each want their shot at him. He would lose more credit for coming back and avoiding those then he could beating four cans. I think he retired at the right time
Seriously, who would care? It's who you fight and WHEN, that takes priority over an unbeaten record. NOBODY classes Rocky Marciano as the greatest heavy of all time.
well it would be semi impressive considering what he has been out of the ring for 5 years and would be in his low to mid 40's not saying it means anything legacy wise but it would be kind of cool to see Calzaghe get back in the ring if he still had any of his skills left
It would be an outrage if he came back and only fought a couple no names. His unbeaten streak wouldn't hold water. Even if he held on for 4 more fights Rocky fought in a much better era. Happy he didn't though, brits are painful enough with all this calzaghe ****
In a sport full of meaningless statistics, 49-0 is the most obvious example. If Calzaghe came back and did a Jofre (or even a half-Jofre), it would be very impressive and enhance his legacy. It would have nothing to do with numbers though.
How dare a nation be proud of its boxers... Its not like Americans are, or Filipino's or any country at all is it, no just the British hahah what an idiot you are
He would never make a comeback I've seen him mention in interviews plenty of times that he didn't want to beat Marciano's record. His style based on endurance and speed is just about as bad as you could have being an old boxer trying to make a comeback.
Hi Loudon, Of course not mate, but that 49-0 ring is mystical But it would hold plenty of water. To the casual fan, it would seem Joe was the GOAT. And the era Rocky fought in wasnt all that good either
