Thoughts on canelo Alvarez?

    Would like to get the opinions from the Brits on canelo and how far he can go?

    Most overrated fighter in the sport right now in my opinion.

    Good fighter, has natural skills that you can see but you can't say he's brilliant or even great because he's fought nobody. His world title reign is as paper as Nathan Cleverly's. Since winning the belt (against Matthew Hatton :-() he's only fought blown-up welterweights or old men (or in Mosley's case, both of those). The way GBP try to make out he's a living legend is nothing short of ridiculous. Having lots of fans and drawing money doesn't make you a great fighter. They hype him worse than Broner.

    Trout will beat him IMO. If he beats Trout then I'll respect him more but until he does I firmly believe he's a protected fighter. His best win was probably against Ryan Rhodes who was Euro level. That sounds daft but go look at his record!

    I think he is the most under rated fighter in the sport right now lol.

    Paulie's post is case in point. Anybody that gets pushed more than they should is naturally picked apart by the hardcore fan. Happens with every fighter with the stature of Alvarez.

    He is a protected fighter yes...but can you tell me a fighter out there that's not protected? Froch...maybe Martinez but his team want nothing to do with Golovkin right now. Maybe guys are the smaller weights because nobody gets protected at that level. Every fighter that sells tickets/gets rating get carefully managed.

    His next fight he is facing the No.1 fighter in the division who is undefeated.

    from what i seen, and thats not much, he looks good. wouldnt call him world class though just yet, him v trout makes for a good fight, canelo looks massive though, what does he weigh come fight night, looks like he a few weights above some, hatton/rhodes what i seen of him

    His record is what it is..some good names on it but mostly ageing blown up fighters, but hes young and still learning so plenty of time to make things right. A part from that i like him i like his style and would say hes probably second only to Marquez in regards to combination punching..he has a bright future and hopefully hell start o show his true worth next week.

    I take your point that most fighter's are protected but GBP with Alvarez just go to another level. It's more De La Hoya and Schaefer more than it is Saul himself, those two pricks just use him because he's a huge star in Mexico and would rake in millions if he fought a cleaner.

    Why's it taken this long for him to fight someone good and fresh? I read somewhere that he insisted on fighting Trout because he wants to prove himself so fair play to him. GBP though still wanted him to fight Cotto who looked knackered in his last fight and tried for ages for to convince to take it. His promoters clearly prefer easy fights for him because they want to protect him and get money off gullible Mexican die-hards.

    All this stuff DLY said this week too about Mayweather being **** scared of Alvarez, pull the ****ing one Oscar.

    I think the truth lies somewhere in between what Golden Boy claim and what the hardcore fans who rip him apart say. He's a very good fighter for his age, puts his punches together well and has respectable pop. He benefits from cutting so much weight (but he's not the only fighter to do so) and his stamina has a bit of a question mark over it. His resume is very easy to pick apart though but Trout is a real test and he deserves respect for forcing that

    It is hard to tell right now as he hasn't really been tested, but from what I have seen he looks like he could be a fantastic fighter.

    i think he's overrated too...but this fight confuses my thinking on that, because his handlers must be very very confident of his ability letting a golden egg like him anywhere near trout......so, maybe he's a lot better than what i think he is
