Anyone think Uriah could actually be legit?

He throws VICIOUS strikes with speed, power and accuracy, and has frightening one-strike KO power. That KO of Adam Cella has got to be knockout of the year.

Sonnen is half in love with him, and I don't see Chael to be the type of guy who would blow smoke up a guy's ass by very seriously telling him he's a title contender when he isn't.

He ****ed up Bubba's eye with just one punch thrown while moving backwards.

He turned Dylan's face into raw hamburger.

He was very patient against Dylan, gave up control of the centre of the octagon yet was aggressive with his striking. He picked Dylan apart on his own terms, not rushing for the knockout but still always looking to set it up.

Obviously his level of competition is lacking at this point. But clearly he's the best TUF prospect for years, if not ever. He's a bit of a mental midget, but you get the sense that Chael and co have helped him a lot with that. Assuming he beats Kelvin, does anyone like to see him against a name guy?

Sure, Dylan went into his shell. But did Uriah look any less impressive in dominating him than any top guy would have? :conf

mid tier contender. In that fight to get into the house, if that dude he fought had any wrestling experience he would have submitted him. He gave up his back way too much. But his 2 losses were to fighters who got picked up by the UFC.

    Im 50/50 on him.

Yeah I don't expect too much of him on the ground. :conf

But I was very impressed by his fight against Dylan. Systematically brutalized an outmatched but not scared opponent. Dylan seemed to lose his heart during the fight, not before it.

Also after months of hard training with Chael and co (and Chael several times mentioned Uriah's outstanding work ethic), I don't think he's the same fighter who stepped into the cage for his "get into the house" fight. He seems a good deal more poised and a lot more confident. :good

    If anyone hasn't seen it

I saw Weidman write about fighting Hall so went on his record and was pretty impressed, not bad losses at all especially early.
He gave up immediately. He put a lot of pressure on himself and was quite emotional so its not surprising to see him fold like that. Good guy hope he does well but he was outclassed from the beginning. His face at the end as well :!::!::yikes

I think Uriah is the best fighter to have come out of TUF so far. How well he does we'll have to see but we've seen many fighters take their careers to the next level in the TUF house so if Uriah can do that then he could be the greatest TUF alumni ever.

Hadn't seen that vid before, thanks for that. :good

Uriah definitely a lot more passive than we've seen him in the TUF house. He almost ran from Weidman a couple of times. Looks like he was trying to be a good opponent and stay with Weidman, rather than aggressively trying to win the fight. Not sure if I saw him throw any strikes with real intent. :conf

I feel the same. To me what will be telling is when he is in the UFC. It seemed after that first knockout everyone already had it in their heads that if they fought they would lose. Most guys were shook from the start and I am ready to see him fight a real professional fighter that doesnt care.

I'll give it to them, it's been one of the best seasons i've seen. I'm not sure if it's the production changes or these guy genuinely better characters. They're obviously great fighters. Chael has been a decent coach

I think because the fights and fighters were better they just focused on them rather than the reality TV side.

He was wary of the takedown.

i just really hope dana white takes note that this season, with the emphasis heavily on the training and fights rather than the reality crap, makes it infinitely better. I just wonder, what with the next lot being girls and guys together, if he can resist showing all the little (and completely uninteresting to me) dramas that this situation may well bring

Yep the focus was heavily on fights. They barely showed anything else, no antics and crap in the house.
