That's one of the excuses the big names use when ducking him. "Who has he beaten?! So why should I fight him?", "It makes no sense fighting him!" :bolt
He beat almost every opponent he faced in more dominant fashion as anyone before him (in many cases out cold). The case he's never been down as an amateur or pro, the gym reports from established names that sparred him etc, etc...

    Hes probably thinking
"Well I beat Sturm, and pushed Sergio hard for 10 rounds, the best fighter this guy beat is Proksa....IM GOING TO BUST HIM UP!"

Macklin does nothing better than Golovkin. He won't come remotely close to winning this fight.

props to Macklin. He's a warrior. Now we will see how good is 3G. If Macklin will come with a good game plan i.e go to the distance, hit and move type of plan, he can put serious problems to 3G.

    Why is Macklin getting props?

These contenders need to be JUMPING at chances to fight the champs when the opportunity comes. Can't believe boxing has come to this when a contender is the one getting the props  :verysad

Well I agree with you in theory. In practice, however, especially when it comes to fighting Golovkin, no one in the top 5 seems interested. So Macklin deserves credit.

He has the HBO date because he's willing to step up. Period. Before this stupid GBP/Showtime/HBO rift, Quillin could've had the opportunity, too. Geale also.

Macklin gave an excellent account of himself against Sturm and Martinez and then brought his A game again against Alcine. He is more than deserving of the opportunity.

Macklin is an excellent fighter and an excellent fight, but I expect no less from the top 10.

You really think Macklin is scared? :rofl The reason no one wanted to fight GGG is because he was a high risk with very little reward (money wise) Now that GGG has the backing of HBO, clearly, more MW's would want to fight him as he gets more wins and exposure. Or you think Macklin is fighting GGG for peanuts with no reward if he wins? Is a do or die for both, GGG has been hyped up at HBO and would need to win to get more fan base, if not just watch how HBO will be all over GGG when he fights Macklin. A loss for GGG ends the hype but puts Macklin in line for either Chavez or Martinez. And a win from GGG surely will put him in line too. So no, Macklin is not scared, he knows there is a lot to gain from beating GGG now.

Very good middleweight fight. Matthew Macklin could win.

Glad to hear. Good step up fight for GGG. Will give a better indication on where he's at.

This is the fight Golovkin needs to cement himself as a top middleweight.

This fight we will learn all about Golovkin, if he destroys Macklin, then we hyped him up for an reason. If he beats Macklin & Sergio overcomes Murray, then this how the Middleweights would look like

    1.Martinez
    2.Geale
    3.Golovkin
