Even though he's still smaller, would anyone pick Floyd to not beat Fragomeni, Enzo Mac', Carl 'The Cat', etc etc???
I'd learn towards Paterson because Haye isn't as good against fighters shorter than him and Patersons crouch with the springy left hook could just be enough to take out a poorly balanced Haye. Haye could still win because of his reach, speed and power but I'd consider it a bit of on upset. Haye is a boxer that didn't reach his full potential.
Haye himself said shorter guys cause him the most issues. And unlike Chisora, Floyd actually knows how to throw a punch.
It's an interesting match-up because a guy like Patterson is bound to get rocked by the power Haye possesses. I must say, though, that I favor Patterson in this. Haye is horridly inept at closing, and his most underrated attribute, his elusiveness, would be lost in a fight with a faster, more active Floyd.
Surprised ? Why ? This is the Classic forum. Nothing wrong with your surprise thoguh, I actually think that this fight could be hard for PAtterson too....
Haye has been pumped up to those dimensions; Sonny was natural. On this fight, I would say whoever lands first! Haye's opposition is far inferior in my opinion.
i can see both men winning by ko, haye had more proved power against big men, so it is fair saying that he did hit harder than floyd, but patterson was faster and more skilled, 50/50
With all these people who rate Haye highly, I sometimes stop and think "did I miss some fights ?" :huh I just don't see where the high-rating comes from. He looked good against Chisora, perhaps his best opponent, and Haye went up a notch with that performance ... but Chisora's not really an impressive contender at all. Valuev was really a very discredited fighter by the time Haye fought him. And that was not an impressive performance at all. Ruiz was a has-been who hadn't a win over a rated fighter in years. Monte Barrett, Audley Harrison. Bonin. WTF ? I must have missed something.
Well, Haye looks good, he is fast, skilled, powerful and that´s why some people rate him highly as a hard opponent(myself included sometimes)...
