    I respectfully call him Filipino-American as HE considers himself to be. If he was born in the US or was brought shortly after birth then I'd disregard that and call him American. But he was born in the Philippines and lived there for his first 11 years...so that lends credence to HIS self-claimed Filipino-first status.

    Btw, I'm Korean/Black, but only in distant heritage, as I'm really American and would take offense if some xenophobe tried to call me 'African-American' or some ****.
