    - Controlled the distance
    - Defense was superb
    - Counterpunching on point
    - Energy control was masterful
    - Controlled the action
    - Keeping it together and taking back momentum after being dropped (not a skill but an invaluable intangible)

Keep in mind this wasn't a baldomir or chavez jr in front of him. This was an explosive p4p fighter.

To do this as the smaller man against a relatively high level fighter as Nonito speaks for itself.

When has Wladmir ever showed that type of skill Riondeaux did last night against that level of opponent? The biggest puncher he fought, he got KTFO.

You need to know the difference between.

    - Using head movement, footwork, feinting and counter punching to near shut out an elite, top 5 p4p level fighter

    and . . . .

    - Jabbing, grabbing and leaning to wear down an often over matched opponent until he is tired enough to be KOed.

People who are truly trying to draw comparisons between the two are only showing how little they know about boxing.

I pretty much agree with most of your points, but the masterful part of it. He used great footwork, reflexes and defence to stay clear from Donaire. However, that doesn't clearly wins you a round if you're not able to hit your opponent. It is my opinion that most of Rigondeaux's offense was meaningless... Kind of like what Judah and Alexander do. Take a step and throw 1 or 2 eye catching shot that miss by one inch , then retreat. He won the fight and deserves the belt, but I didn't appreciate the fight. That was amateur stuff to my eye, reminding me once again of Devon Alexander.

Who, if anyone, could give Rigo trouble at 122-126?

"The people who know Boxing knew it was Quality...I made him look Bad and I looked Great." Rigondeaux

Last night was a great litmus test for boxing fans. People that didn't get it, and those who did.

The best part of this is that the OP is an uppity "old school hardcore fan" that pretends to know everything :patsch

126 could be a problem just because he is so small.
