His job is not a trainer. His job is a promoter.
He should be scheming right now how to sell this guy. I mean you have a spanish speaking guy who is flashy, has a shakey chin and a good resume. How ****ing tough could it be? Make him a heel in the spanish speaking market, throw him in their with some of those mexican "Warriors" that are going to come in face first throwing bombs. Hype it by saying this is the one where he is going to lose to a real mexican because of his chin. Have him talk **** in the post fight interview while repping his country, throw in a few 24/7's showing how sad it is that he left his family in cuba and you have a new star.

It's Arum's job to help increase Rigo's popularity. There are ways. Like someone already mentioned, you can start by catering to the Cuban audience in Miami. Why isn't Arum praising Rigo's amazing boxing skills? That's because he loves the Asian market. Take a look at Shiming. Mother****er can't crack an egg yet Arum is rubbing his nuts like he's the next Floyd in terms of talent/skill.

But hey, I partially blame it on Rigo's team for signing up to work with a biased ***** like Arum. They need to jump ship asap.

It won't be hard to sell him if you do your job and sell him.

Touching story of estranged family, strong Amateur & Olympic background, high KO ratio, a good sense of humor, extremely quick hands, an elite-level skill set, and an amazing signature win witnessed by at least a million households on TV. If it's hard to sell his fights then you're not promoting him right. He may not be a PPV attraction but neither was Donaire, he can do great ratings on TV.

Can Rigo sell tickets even with his win over Donaire? More than likely no. He isnt backed by the mexican fans in the westcoast or the puerto ricans in the east, speaks zero english and is an ugly ass mofo . There is no market for him. He needs to start being more aggressive or going for the knock outs now. If he doesnt, Arum will put him on the bench. Thats just the reality of it.

it is Arum's job but don't compare Rigo to Floyd because there is much more to work with Floyd.

I didn't find it boring. Not FOTY material but defo not that boring. Was very impressed by Rigo's performance and made me want to see where he goes from now on.

It's Arum's job to promote him, his job to keep winning. He won't become the next Floyd, but he can bring in money if promoted right.

Rigo being hard to sell looks particularly stupid considering RIGO WAS MORE ACTIVE THAN DOANIRE and did most of the head-snapping. He was dominating the fight, in order to be exciting and competitive, DONAIRE should've taken more chances, but at times opted to pull a Narvaez.

If Donaire opened up more Rigo might've got the stoppage, so guess what who gave less to the crowd, but I don't see Arum dissing Nonito.

There's a city in south Florida called Miami with a Cuban population of almost 1 million... I'd probably try there

Arum is 100% right. Counter punching defensive fighters slow fights down by virtue of their movement. It is an effective style.

But when 10 total punches land a rd, by 2 fighters then you are boring. He is kinda like Bhop, good defense and doesnt work much.

Lets be honest Ward/Gatti, Marquez/Vasquez, Toney/Jirov are the fights people remember forever. There is action and a high level of skill, which is always better than a high level of skill and no action.

    Simple

My point is the old scumbag is a biased dick. If you're not Asian he doesn't want to put in the effort even if it's not that big of a push. He's not even favorable to his fellow American in Tim Bradley. Look at how Bradley was treated after the Pac bout. He was kept on the shelf for a while. But like I said, Team Rigo was probably dumb to sign with TR in the first place.
