I personally want donaire and rigondeaux to fight someone else first before rematching. Abner mares vs rigondeaux would be Interesting.

As ive said before, Donaire will have to renew his contract with Arum to get a rematch with Rigo. Thats why he was reluctnt to say he wanted the rematch at all. Donaire and his wife dont like Top Rank but now its either walk away from redeeming ur first loss in years or sign another 3 years on top of the 2 years u have left to the Bob father

No rematch needed, Donaire was outclassed.
(It wasn't even a match to be honest)

I'd be all for it. There's too many examples in history of fighters turning it around after a clear loss once the rematch hits. We're still talking two pound for pound talents going head to head, so hell yeah I want a rematch. I don't care if it's straight away or if each man takes a fight or two in the meantime.

I don't understand people asking for a rematch of this fight.

It's like Sergio and Chavez Jr.

Donaire was utterly outclassed. Had he not hit Rigo on the break, he wouldn't have even scored the knockdown leaving him perhaps 1 round won in the fight. There's absolutely no need for a rematch, it makes no sense.

If he's still got 2 years left on his contract he won't be worth **** by the end of it anyway.

Once he moves up to featherweight he won't even have the physical advantages he had at the lower weight so i can see him losing another couple more times in that period.

As for the rematch there is no way Donaire will go near Rigo again.

Rematch is unwarranted unless Donaire can show us a totally new look.

If he can't walk guys down, forget it

I don't want to see one. It was decisive (then again Sergio/JCC Jr are going at it again). If Donaire moves up and shows he's still a class above the rest up at featherweight, and Rigo moves up 18 months from now, then it would be enticing.

Who knows at this point. He tried to once already but a lot can happen in the 2 years or so thats left in his contract and hes already 30yr old. Also who knows what name fighters will be around at that time and whether theyre in GBP or TRs stable.

They should both move on for one or two fights and meet again at feather. Looking at that fight only two conclusions can be made.

    1. Donaire was completely drained at the weight and couldn't punch.
    2. Rigondeaux is in a completely different league and a rematch is pointless.

I am leaning to #2. In both cases, time away only makes sense. No way you can come back after getting owned like that and not be psychologically affected. An immediate rematch is pointless.

Exactly this. He followed Rigo around, stood in front of Rigo, and got smashed.

    All night long.
