Andy Lee is a good old Cockney lad, born in Bow, East London and lived there until he was 15

Im confused about Fury claiming this that and the other....I spoke to his dad years ago and he had a Manc accent, Ive just checked and he was born in England too. How far back does this sense of Irishness go?

I always thought that they were but Suffolk isn't in Ireland

Its kinda ironic that English people wouldnt **** on a traveller if they were on fire, yet as soon as one claims not to identify with being English, everyone gets mad as hell.

Do you realise how pathetic and predictable it is that whenever there is a discussion about identity and nationality someone will start blabbering on about "racism" and "BNP." It's just so feeble, mate, I can barely summon enough energy to respond. For the record, the BNP and affiliates are idiotic, embittered people who blame others for their own inadequacies and who totally misunderstand and misrepresent British identity and values.

Racism is persecuting someone because of their race. Pointing out that Tyson Fury doesn't consider himself a British fighter and using a direct quite from a reputable source to highlight that doesn't constitute racism.

The point I made about 'marrying our women' etc. was to highlight that basically in every area of his life his roots are British, yet he chooses to hypocritically reject them in a very disrespectful way. People have a right to choose their own identity, but they should at least practise what they preach, and live in a way that's consistent with that identity. You can't have it both ways so Fury shouldn't expect homegrown fans to get behind him "because he's British" when actually he's decided that he absolutely isn't.

That's just a generic and default label applied to anyone who doesn't subscribe to fashionable left-wing positions about Irish Republicanism. As a nation we've been taught to be submissive and cowering about such things, handle the other side with kid gloves for fear we upset the delicate little petals. Personally, I don't subscribe to submissiveness and I'm very secure with my identity and won't let alternate positions go unchallenged. I like arguing the counterpoint. A lot of people still can't handle or accept other people's views so they make spiteful labels in the hope that they'll stick.

I dont think Fury gets hate because he's an Irish traveller.I dont think his Irishness has anything to do with it.There are English gypsies too who get the same hate.I was reading an article on Cher Lloyd who appeared on X factor and she recieved vile abuse because of her romany gypsy background. Its practically driven her out of the UK and she's made it quite big in the States where they dont care about that.

Fury's personality has alot to to with it aswell. They didnt exactly go mad for him in Belfast either when he was in with a dangerous Kevin Johnson yet recieved boos from the crowd.Theres a big difference between that and how native son Carl Frampton is recieved. If Fury toned it down he will generate big support on both sides.BJS background is hardly ever brought up because he conveys a humble perona.

I think Fury is quite popular actually, and he has to put up with a lot of **** from people on Twitter. Saying that, he doesn't do himself any favours by letting his official Twitter account be used for championing the shooting of homosexuals and basically bad mouthing every fighter that isn't him.

    Eh?

Anything to do with Ireland, and you are in there giving it the big one.

This is a thread about Tyson Fury and you bring up Republicanism, just goes to show I was right. Your real agenda has been brought right to the fore by yourself just now. Pathetic and sad really.

What a racist ***** that started this thread, I wonder what he hates more, that he is a traveller or that he is Irish? He is really going to hate the fact that he is going to be the first Irish Traveller to be world heavyweight champion. He knows nothing about ethnicity, culture or nationality, Erin go bragh.

Is he? I honestly didn't know that. I consider anyone from Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland to both be called Irish. People from Northern Ireland can technically call themselves British if they want but Irish is Irish in my personal opinion. Just like English is English, Scottish is Scottish and Welsh is Welsh.

It goes back what most people are saying, it's just this sad mentality loads of fighters have. Think if they say they're Irish it automatically makes them more likeable/interesting. And it's all to appeal to the Irish contingent in America. That lot aren't Irish either, they're American. Probably never even visited Ireland in their lives so I don't get why fighters like Fury are desperate to appeal to them

hes a ****wit of the highest order... and has been most likely warped by his own mothers sense of "BRITISHNESS" even though she was born on the island of IRELAND.... the problem is he has IRISH blood coursing through his veins yet he doesnt quite now how to cope with this...and if his father is an isreali jew as opposed to european his own features wont resembly someone from these islands... so depending on what school he went to he could have came in for a lot of stick about that also... the BNP wouldnt consider him pure blood british in any sense of the world yet they would embrace fury and macklin happily:yep...its a strange old world...:good

You're going to have to do some basic punctuation before I bother to read that, mate. It's just good manners.
