Who says so? Rigo hasn't done as much as Rahim did yet, and he had a very close loss against Freitas, arguably a better fighter than Donaire. 122 Erik Morales steamrolls Rigo. Rigo couldn't take Marroquin's shots, how the **** is he going to live with El Terrible?
And Hamed? :huh And Zaragoza? :huh and Chavez and Hernandez and Ayala and Tapia and Espada and Kelley and McCollough and Junior Jones and Kennedy McKinney? :think :think :think
based on his skill level, I say he decisions all 3, all 4 if we include marquez. marquez can't beat slick fighters as showed against mayweather pacquiao he schools so badly it wouldn't even be funny. There is a reason why pacquiao avoided joan guzman at the lower weights.
they **** him up, Pacquiao was relentless, he would KO rigo with his suspect chin, MAB was just to all round and could bring a fight - wins on points, Morales fight would be close in my opinion due to styles, but still morales by points
Ugly. Seriously ugly. The man struggles with B level fighters, stinks out the joint against a champ who's not even a lock for the HOF and you have him beating the greatest fighters who've ever graced the division. Rafa Marquez would have knocked his dick in the dirt. Viciously.
Pacquiao at 122 was still a very raw one dimensional fighter who had to severely drain himself to make weight and that took a toll on him specially in his ability to take a punch(almost koed by a Hussein jab) i think Rigo would use his great footwork to stay away from Pac's lunging attacks and use his aggression against him with perfectly timed counters, sooner or later he catches him coming in with something big and knocks him out, thats what i think the most likely scenario would be but i certainly wouldnt rule a Pac KO victory he was a vicious puncher back then.. Morales at 122 was a beast but two things worry me about this mythical match up, the first is Morales defense or lack of it and the second is the clash of styles the only time he fought a slick boxer(Zahir Raheem) he looked completely inept without a clue about what to do to offset Raheem's style although it has to be said that the fight was at lightweight and that Morales was past his best, Rigo IMO would be too slick to even the best Morales to deal with, he would counter Morales with pin point accuracy all night and take advantage of El Terrible's leaky defense to carve him up enough to win a wide decision. MAB i think would be the hardest fight for Rigo specially the boxer version of MAB who boxed of his back foot and behind a great jab, this would have been a chess match with both weary of one another and would have been fought at a slow pace, i can see both fighters going down in this fight but neither would get stopped, this one goes to the cards and its a close split decision either way.
They're 3 of the best offensive fighters at FW, Nonito is a poor template for gauging those match-ups as of now. Let's see how Rigo handles someone like Mares.
great fighters show their best against the best, but most of the time you would have some fights were they look poor and unmotivated. Marquez for example look very good and determined and at his best against pacquiao but had troubles with C level fighters like katsidis who he was supposed to beat with ease
The only time Marquez looks good against other counter punchers is when he's as fast or faster than them. Against Rigo he would be at a significant speed disadvantage. He'd be beaten slightly less as bad as the beating be took from Mayweather.
Pressure fighters with bigger frames will always trouble a past-prime Marquez, though after the 3rd most of the punches were avoided. Gainer was quicker, Casamayor was quicker. In his prime Marquez was much quicker and lighter on his feet than the version that fought Floyd, and has a much better right hand than Nonito. Not to mention underrated "dynamite" power. Rigo would be taking risks anytime he threw at Marquez, and Marquez is an expert at throwing with southpaws to open them up and time his shots down the middle.
1. Rigo is clearly the better fighter H2H you can see already. 2. Rigo is far more skilled than Raheem and has greater generalship so can make fighters fight his fight. Raheem is not even as good as Judah. 3. He could take Marroquin's shots. Sure, his chin is slightly questionable. I make it sound like Morales will definitely lose to Rigo, I think it's somewhat of a toss up between Rigo and my favourite fighter ever. I slightly favour Rigo. Morales had problems with that style...Raheem, and Espadas - the fight people call a robbery. I have to see more of Rigo against a style like Mares - Rigo has the abilities to beat Mares, but he's never had to express that in his fights because it didn't need testing enough. Ricardo Cordoba came in strong at Rigo, and Rigo dealt with Ric like a boss for the first half of the fight until he got hit with a shot, which shocked him as he hadn't been knocked down before so he retreated for the rest of the fight to settle with the decision. Rigo is still only 12 fights into the pro game, and we'll see the best of Rigo in 2014.
