Was Solis on his way to outpointing Vitali before his knee caved in?

His legs did go because of the shot, he was doing well up to that point, unless that guy gets in shape there is no point talking what he coulda done, he will lose all big fights with that weight on him

And Shannon Briggs is a two time heavyweight champ (once lineal). There's a big ****ing difference between Audley and Solis in the ams.

The problem is 1 Round is not enough to asses whether or not he could have outpointed Vitali for several round let alone 12. He was performing well to say the least up until the TKO. It's a shame really.

This is Professional Boxing. Nobody cares nor is his Amateur career relevant.

Amateur Boxing is a joke these days anyway it is more like Fencing than Boxing. Don't even get me started on the scoring.

is this thread serious, people saying yeah solis was doing great until he got knocked out in the first round, thats why his legs went !!

i also thought john ruiz was making david tua his ***** until poor ruiz hurt his jaw, he was well on the way to outpointing him.

The thread is hilarious. Solis was outpointing Vitali over a 2 minute period? Whats next? I mean what's the limit? Do we dissect fights into 20 second intervals and then say some fighter was outpointing his opponent over that period?

Ray Austin was still top 20 boxer at time of defeat, Barrett top 30. That a good bit for modern era, where top contender fights are about half as frequent as before. Amatuers count for something too. Solis was a borderline top 10 fighter when he faced VK, and honestly, you're still not going to be able to legitimately name more than 15 boxers who could beat him now.

Also, Vitali often does worse in his opening round, look at Gomez, Sanders, Hide. Takes him a round sometimes to feel out or adapt to his opponent. Still had it as an even round before Vitali landed the knockout punch. Like someone said, though, "Ruiz was making Tua his ***** until he got knockout out in the first round" (awesome comment), it was a knockout in round one, so who cares.
