Why doesn't anyone use winky in h2h?

Winky is avoided by most boxing fans like he was avoided by many fighters. I think at times Winky was his own worst enemy though. Didn't he turn down a career high payday to fight Oscar? He probably deserved the decision against Vargas but then kinda disappeared. Not sure if he couldn't get anyone in America to fight him or not. Then he dominated Trinidad and had the chance to take the titles from Jermaine Taylor. He played it safe the last couple rounds and lost that. He was a tremendous boxer, that's for sure.

 

The HOF is about popularity, not about achievements. Tyson and Kosta are in there after all.

 

I wasn't saying he wasn't hall of fame worthy. Just saying he screwed up his career in some ways and never got in the spotlight like he should have until it was too late.

 

So being the youngest heavyweight champion in history is not about achivements?

He used to get alot of love on this forum. I remember when he was active, he was one of my favorite fighters, and he was highly regarded in H2H matchups here. I think a prime Winky was one of the hardest fighters to beat in our generation actually.

Nobody uses Winky because he beats everybody yet couldnt fill a toilet cubicle.

Winky is a great H2H fighter he had a great jab ATG defense a high ring IQ and underrated toughness. He would fare well in most H2H match ups and if he was prime today would beat anyone in the world today 160 and down.

 

As Boxing Monthly once wrote: If the HOF was called the Hall of the very good then Tyson would rightfully be in it.

 

He's long been regarded as a top-notch fighter, but he was his own worst enemy in his career. He consistently priced himself out of high-profile fights that would have elevated his star status, made him money, and improved his legacy.

He passed up a chance to fight Oscar in for what would have been triple his highest ever payday, and this is a fight he could well have won to boot. Also priced himself out of a Taylor rematch (which he also could easily have won.)

 

Thats the dumbest thing I've ever read. Youngest HW champion in history. No one has even come close since. He was undisputed champions. And won the belt back again in 95.

I have no doubt his record is better than a **** ton of the guy in the HOF.
