Hopkins did way too much Holding, Clinching, Wrestling, Grabbing, Faking low blows etc. to get the win. If he spent as much time actually punching as he did those things he might have won. Hopkins ruined what should have been a good fight for the fans. Not sure how anyone could score that fight for Hopkins.
He was. an he hurt bernard to the body with that "slap". People still throwin around the bernard is old **** too. Guy just won another belt . an held his own with dawson. Men bigger than calzaghe
in an even fight Calzaghe won majority of the second half of the fight - 115-112 If he was younger, he would have set a higher pace, true, but that means he would have opened up a bit more and less clinches, that favours JC's game more - would be better fight to watch as Hopkins would look to fight his fight instead of spoiling JC's, but that would also favour Joe, Bhop would always come up short against Joe, BHop schooled Pavlik right afterwards, he could have not done any better in his prime, JC was as aged as Hopkins in that fight - Hopkins wasn't that old in terms of fight years - fight was over half a decade ago. JC was a H2H great, at 168 only Roy would beat him, that even in a close fight.
You cannot claim to have won while omitting to mention you needed a rest because the other guy was making you fight at a faster rate than you could sustain. Joe was setting up the pace of the fight, making BHOP spend more energy than he liked. Some BHOP proponents conveniently overlook this fact.
Calzaghe won no doubt. "I'd never let a white boy beat me!" Lol Well on that night it happened homeboy
Goes both ways. Joe admitted not to have trained optimally for the Hopkins fight, because he thought he could get to old Pop fatigued in the latter rds by setting a fast pace . He arguably did. But Pops decided then to look for a way out. The main thing is they both neutralized each other. Whatever better clean punching he did, Bhop lost the right to dispute the decision because he fought negatively all night long and attempted additionally to get an undeserved rest.
