Hopkins fair enough but there is no benefit for Geale in that fight on this forum. Karmazin, sylvester and Sturm were all past prime and Mundine was shot according to most. If he goes upwards 15 years everyone on here will call him Daniel De Dominator.

 

He is the ring champion mate. #1 ranked is then Geale. To become the best you have to fight the best and atm Martinez is the best middleweight out there.

 

I agree with Martinez I think that should be Geales number one target. I missed the bit in my last post where I was going to say that Martinez will retire before Hopkins. Bhop wants to fight until 50, Martinez won't fight long after his next loss.

That was what I was saying about Martinez being an unknown quantity due to his age, I think Geale has to fight him before he suffers a loss. Lets say Murray causes an upset, a lot of people will miss out on their chance with sergio because he might pack it in.

If that happens the GGG should be the focus, not a fallen champ. I might have contradicted myself somewhere but I definitely think Geale should go for #1 before Golovkin.

 

I'll add to that, that donaire was 2012 fighter of the year (top 10 p4p) and got beat by a guy that many considered an amatuer. He has youth on his side and can rebuild. If/when Sergio suffers the same fate he will be pigeonholed to his South American ppvs. No disrespect to him it's just how the money works at 40 years of age.

Its good to be Optimistic however if you watch Martinez fights then watch Geales there is a vast diffrence in their skills with Martinez the far better boxer of the two. Work Rate alone doesnt make you a good boxer, you need speed and power. Martinez may not have the work rate of Geale but he is alot faster and has alot more power than Geale, Geale only knows one style of fighting, Martinez is a smart boxer and very slick. Geale will look very amateurish in there with Martinez imo.

Not IMO. They have different styles, Martinez has more experience, but is not better IMO.

Speed is much the same IMO, but yes, Martinez has more power.
Geale makes up for that power with the exceptional workrate.

Geale has very impressive angles and body movement, I believe you underrated him significantly.

This will be a very competitive and close fight. 50/50 IMO.

What makes me optimistic about Geale v Martinez is that it won't be immediate as they have other commitments, if it happens at all. It would most likely be 2014 and Martinez will have had the Murray fight at least, perhaps more. He will only get riper.
Getting a beat down in late rounds by JCC will have a cumulative effect if it happens again, and again, and someone will catch him. He has got to this age due to a late start and good skills but if a guy at 40 or even Hopkins got pacquio'd then they would immediately retire.

problem with KT was he struggled to make the weight and eventually lost the desire, he wasnt even supposed to fight Hatton but got lured to fight him by a 5 million dollar pay day. KT got to complacant and was enjoying the good life, it soften him up somewhat.

 

I see Martinez losing a decision against someone, going for a rematch and then maybe a cash-in against a big name from another weight division. It would be good to see him go out on top even if it was against Geale.
